do you know of any means (jquery, php, html, whatever) to program in a way thats state driven?
every single page of my site has something (form, button, div) that needs to be shown or hidden based on if the user is logged in or not and i'm getting sick of having 20+ if statements on the page all checking the session variables
I do not live in the USA. If I were to buy a home in the USA, what are the key facts I should know about USA household electrical supply at outlets in homes? E.g. when buying a clothes dryer or other appliances.

that question looks like way over kill. unless an appliance (washer machine or dryer) is electric, there are only 2 plugs to worry about - grounded or not grounded
@Aaron thats to start or resume a session. which is fine; looking more for a way to show or hide elements based on session state while avoiding all the if statements
twist locks are common in server rooms where you dont want to trip over a power cable and unplug a server by accident !
then again, if a power cable is exposed to the point of you tripping over it, you deserve to have the server go down on you
