@NiallC.in this case, the OP happened to be asking about jomax. Of course that makes it a bad question since it's product specific. diy.stackexchange.com/a/29086/2196

10 hours later…

1 cube worth of buckyballs, laid in a 6 row closed loop pattern end to end (like a bracelet) has the same diameter as a 12oz solo coffee cup base. fyi.
13:10
@BMitch Missed that (and that it was a self-answer). Oh well

Speaking of the good ol' days. What ever happened to @stevejackson ?
And where has @theevilgreebo been? I hope all is well with him, I know he was going through a tough time recently.
he was in chat yesterday morning but didn't say anything and disappeared just as quickly
@Tester101 cut by the spurs before the playoffs.
@waxeagle I have no idea what that means, but I'm guessing it's a sports reference?
16:14
i find it awe-inspiring that after all these years that infinite scrolling has been used in websites, no one has a figured out a way to return to the last record loaded when clicking the back button. what a ridiculous problem to have.
or - no one cares about that - but its a real pain in the ass
@lsiunsuex Why would anybody ever click the back button!?
Besides, if they did, they'd definitely want to go to the top of the previous page, not where they left off.
16:27
scroll down a few pages, click something, then go back a page
i want to read from where i left off, not scroll down again
+ any of the gawker sites do it now and it does the same
16:51
I click something and it opens up in a new window

The article isn't worth reading, but best lede ever:
"I’M so sad and depressed. I stay up in my room on my own and I’ve even started to listen to The Smiths."
@ChrisCudmore is this the my startup will fail in 30 days dude?
anyone have thoughts on the best way to find a hotel while road tripping? It'd be nice if there was a "find cheapest hotel along route" site...
No, one of the terrible "Shocking" human interest stories in the British tabs.
Pack sleeping bags, pillows and plastic tarps. Stay at the cheapest fleabag you see. Lay tarp on bed, and sleep on top.*
* Does not work when travelling with wives. Bros only.
18:23
god... why can't guys sleep in a nice hotel? i don't want to sleep in a crap hole
@ChrisCudmore yeah this is a whole clan trip
if it was just me I'd probably drive straight through and catch some z's in a rest area
bugs and stuff crawling all over u as you sleep, going in your mouth and ears, leaving bug fecal matter all over your face... disgusting
@waxeagle drive with another couple; drive strait through and alternate drivers
@lsiunsuex we thought about doing that with my sis and bro-in-law, but the cost just didn't make sense. More than double to rent a big enough vehicle and the gas saved wouldn't have made up for it.
nor even a pair of hotel stays
(kids complicate matters :))
18:38
Actually, it sounds like an interesting graph theory problem. Maximize a route efficiency over several edges each with separate time and cost weightings.
So the next job for the Google Streetview people is to get out of the car, knock on every door and ask "How much to stay the night"
@waxeagle try this freetrip.com
i just ran it from buffalo to vegas and it lists hotels / motels along the way at various price points with links
@lsiunsuex nice, that's helpful
That's kind of neat. I'd like it to allow for a driving time option - I'll drive 8 hours a day. Give me all hotels every 7-9 hours and ignore the rest.
I really don't need a hotel 15 minutes from home.
@ChrisCudmore yeah same here. But I've got a pretty wide range of when I'm willing to stop along my trip so this works pretty well
And if you have kids in the car, you might not be able to do 8 hours a day.
Where are you going?
18:49
Vegas!?!
@ChrisCudmore texas
From Atlanta?
@ChrisCudmore we're more in the chattanooga area, but yeah
15 hours to San Antonio. Give the kids some moonshine and gravol and drive straight through.
My wife and I did 20 hours from the New Brunswick/Quebec border to Toronto no problem. Just switch off every 3 hours.
18:55
@ChrisCudmore just galveston so it's only around 12. The current options up for debate are leave mid/late afternoon friday and spend the night drive rest on saturday, or leave between 2 and 4am on saturday.
I don't mind either, but I'm fighting off a cold and am thinking I might take the "get full night's sleep" option
Overnight in New Orleans, and enjoy the evening.
Make it part of the trip.
Hey guys, I've got a delivery showing up shortly, and a tornado warning, should be fun, so here's your PUT kickoff, talk to ya later...
Welcome to Project Update Thursday
@BMitch be safe senior
@BMitch better have pictures when you return
from last night - done by the weekend he says
ordered this morning to go over the patio from the house to mount points on the garage
@lsiunsuex That's a cool idea.
18:59
and we decided to cover the fence in that
Chain link?
yeah - hate it - so its either deal with it (the bamboo) or rip it out and do vinyl
figure we've put so much money into the patio and we have no privacy for parties. may as well do something with the fence
Plant a hedge.
well... i saw this on houzz over the weekend; my inspiration from this is to do a concrete block wall about 5ft tall and she can paint it a color similar to the photo; then put planters in front of it which i think would look really nice
Easy Killer! One project at a time is all a marriage can handle.
19:04
i count about another 110 concrete blocks and 10-12 bags of concrete to remove the chain link and put in a solid wall; no big deal and cheaper to do then the bamboo will be
i would do this instead of the bamboo
Do you intend to enjoy your yard THIS year?
there's a tornado warning here?
oh, it's just a watch
the flagstone will be done by this weekend
the sail should be here soon as well as the bamboo
the concrete wall to replace the chain link .... to much effort and probably will be passed on
i've had enough - finish the fireplace, cover the beds in mortar and paint it - get some furniture and i'm done
needless to say, the guy installing the flagstone was really impressed with my masonry work and wants to trade me labor - he'll take off some what i owe him if i build him 3 concrete block pillars for his mom's patio
obvious disclaimer preceded - i'm by no means a pro - i guess from the look of what i did, it was good enough for him
19:27
Top cabinets are all gone, soffit mostly removed
ah, soffits... good times
3
dang electrician put all the wires through there
Awesome, you can edit messages that have been *d
hey, watch your *d language
and it assigned both stars to it
19:29
nope, I added a star
@lsiunsuex, no I think someone else added it once they noticed I removed the other line
Wires is not all that bad - we had a vent pipe running horizontally through ours
if I had that, I would have said f* it and left the soffits. I had punched a few holes to see what I was getting into before ordering the cabinets
except for the exhaust fan duct like in @BMitch photo, ours was empty
@BMitch did the cabinets come ?
@BMitch, the contractor just ended up taking it out and hooking in an AAV to the toilet (since that's all that pipe was feeding)
19:32
its been "2 weeks" :)
that's the delivery I'm waiting on, I think they're lost, or stuck in traffic
should have been here an hour ago
probably using apple maps
yup
I see a truck, gotta go
start the betting! @BMitch returns in x minutes cursing something got damaged on the way. I say < 10 minutes

Is Scott James Walter is playing with us? He doesn't know what a drill is?
20:01
@lsiunsuex lol, no idea if there's any damage yet, everything is still in the boxes.
20:52
Thanks for joining us for this week's PUT
