That said, I think a goal ought to be to maintain some balance and to keep cohesion in the community. But that's precisely politics.
In another direction, moderators don't do much, according to the post linked to. But they accompany the moderating users in their activities. Again that's a leadership role, though arguably not political.

@ParamanandSingh You realize your remark is ambiguous about which "coming election"? Just kidding. =P
01:59
@quid 2800.
@user21820 thanks for the participation, I thought you'd guess 2182,0 ;D. I'll have to keep track of them. amWhy: 2146, Xander: 2147, user21820: 2800.
02:42
@quid Lol! I didn't think it would be so few, with all the meta noise that happened last year.

Totally out of curiosity, is there a way I can see what my candidate score would be if I were to run? (It's very, very unlikely that I will run.)

A: What are the details on the "candidate score" which shows during an election?

Shog9The Candidate Score can range from 0 to 40, and is calculated as follows: 1 point for each 1000 reputation up to 20,000 reputation for a maximum of 20 points. 1 point each for Moderation badges - Civic Duty, Cleanup, Deputy, Electorate, Marshal, Reviewer, Sportsmanship, Steward - for a maximum ...

So, calculating it myself, it'd be 15. Decent.
20:21
@TerranSwett Yes, 15. You can confirm that here.
20:32
@JoséCarlosSantos Is there a way to search by username in that long list?
@VIVID You can download the CSV and search for your user ID, which you can find in your profile page link. (Yours is 752069, for example.)
@quid I suppose what I was meaning was: do you think the role of a moderator is to influence opinion, or to follow opinion? (The latter being "above" politics.)
@Aloizio Yes thanks, I've just found that. It's 8. I'm fairly new to this site :)
@VIVID check here, just put your username there in the field.
@VIVID Then, welcome!
@Zacky Thanks for providing a quicker alternative.
20:48
@user1729 rather clearly the role includes to guide the community, viz. to influence it.
Differently, a main way, more or less the only way, for the community to actually express an opinion on the direction of the site is in the moderators elections via voting a candidate that embodies its vision.
Obviously individual members can and should express their opinion all the time on meta and via their actions etc.
But the way for the community to express something is in moderator elections.
Participation in this vote exceeds that of voting on most any meta post by at least an order of magnitude, for the most part rather two orders.

@quid @AloizioMacedo Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this, especially your call to vote just now quid! I appreciate the time and effort you put into this site, so keep up the good work :-)

Just out of curiosity, what does CappedRep refer to? Is it 1 point for every 1000 points?
Hiya! Looks like y'all got this party started long before I showed up! :D If I can be of any assistance, let me know.
