A lot of them mostly stay pretty close to old D&D’s morale mechanics without much variation… which had me thinking about some things I would do different. One of […]

My idea was that MTG traders (Magic the Gathering) would take your MERP collectables was wrong, its a separate network.
No-one I know has a clue about the ICE/MERP traders except for using eBay. Everyone is agreed these are valuable. Sorry best I could do.
@Trish the Toys R Us connect with DnD has been disputed - I've an RPG buddy who managed a store when it was open. No-one disputes DnD5e is huge. My grapevine is saying DnD4 was not big and Toys went out of business a long time before DnD5 so its unconnected. I'm sure thats debatable, but seems complex to me.

@M__ I am not talking 5e, 1980s was D&D 2 or ADND.
Like... about 1982 or 1983 to 1985.
like devlin 1 recounts here or EvilSchemer 2 posts later. Heck, I even found a 1985 ad for D&D at Toys R Us here
Deities and Demigods (with the TSR cartouche that was only used starting in 1980, not the wizard next to "TSR the Game Wizard" that was discontinued in 1980, so a 2nd print that must be made before 1983 (when the logo changed to TSR in steps)) was sold there too (price sticker on it here)
