@TheFallen0ne you’re getting a bounty

@Glazius Yeah, but I've drunk enough straight lemon juice and not felt that particular feeling, so I'm unsure.

I'm pretty sure that's an allergy
And/or its enzymes are causing that, which I suppose you could consider the pineapple trying to eat you
Do you get the same with hermetic pineapple?

New One D&D playtest is out. They fixed the wording of invisible: "Attacks Affected. Attack Rolls against you have Disadvantage, and your Attack Rolls have Advantage. If a creature can somehow see you, as with Blindsight, you don’t gain this benefit against that creature."

2:17 AM
@KorvinStarmast I have greased enough bearings in my life to have been got immediatly, I'm an engine man,not a navigator 😆

I.... have failed to figure out what hermetic pineapple is. I know (roughly) what hermetic means, and I know what pineapple means, and I cannot figure out what the combination of those words is.

Q: Is there a rule for spending downtime to get info on a monster?

Anne AunymeThe party gets a week of downtime. One player wants to use this time to gather information on a foe they encountered previously but failed to defeat, reading books about it, so that they can get an edge against it next time. I know there is a Recall Knowledge action that is about identifying mons...

@Phoenices a fruit sealed from all external contaminants...so kinda like a pinapple with an orange peel?

but...
pineapples already have a seal against external contaminants.
Have you ever seen a pineapple?

Or is this like one of those non litearals where it is actually just mutated to be free of this one enzyme that cleaves certain protein chains?
@Phoenices that aint a seal ... Pinapples are like swiss cheese of the fruit world... Or plate armor...all those crevices for microbes to sneak through
Leave one out in summer for a few days and then lets talk about seals

2:34 AM
Fair enough. Does a pineapple in a hermetically sealed box count? Or does the definition of "hermetic pineapple" require everything to be sealed away, even sterilized air?
Something sealed away from everything else since the moment of its creation might have unusual properties. Hmm. Hermetic pineapple could be a crucial component in dark rituals.

@ThomasMarkov Thanks! That'll pay for the bounty I put out on my own question, LOL. I'm learning as I go and trying to be better about what I post. I ## instead of ### and I don't signal my edits (nor try to 'correct' with them) anymore. Lots of little snafus along the way but I love this project and what it represents.

@TheFallen0ne I prefer ###, personally.

Someone left me an edit saying that two was more standard, so I just adopted it, new enough not to question it. :-D

Q: Is a Plasmoid's Shape Self similar to a Changeling's Mask?

Victor BThe Plasmoid's Shape Self states: As an action, you can reshape your body to give yourself a head, one or two arms, one or two legs, and makeshift hands and feet, or you can revert to a limbless blob. While you have a humanlike shape, you can wear clothing and armor made for a Humanoid of your s...

Quick question regarding using the stack : I've seen a comment mentioning how you can quickly link to this stack's chat lobby using [chat]. Is there any other "shortcuts" like this one for other resources, like the tour or help center?
To be fair I'm half expecting there to be something like [help] or [tour], and realize I could have used that instead of manually grabbing the link every time I want to direct a new user to those resources. Don't want to make "garbage" comments on a random question just to blindly try it though.

@Matthieu You could make garbage comments on any of your own posts that have no other comments; then the only person who will get notifications will be you.
(Or on your own posts where you were the last commenter, but then as you're busy making/deleting garbage comments you might risk deleting non-garbage comments by mistake. Better to operate on a clean slate there.)

Q: Is my Shroomlib homebrew race balanced?

dndndndndnndndndndFor this race I used Detect Balance to try and figure out how balanced it is (I got around 25-26), and before I try to playtest it, I would appreciate some feedback. @Matthieu [chat], [help], [tour], and Role-playing Games Meta are the ones I use most.
[meta] apparently works in chat too.

@doppelgreener oh you're perfectly right, I forgot about that
@ThomasMarkov yup those are the ones I was mostly looking for, since those are the links I tend to use the most, thanks

@Matthieu you can spam comments on one of my meta posts. I don’t mind.

workshopping a question here
What are the mechanical impacts of the Way of Mercy monk's Hand of Harm never being able to be used more than once a turn?
In Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, the Way of Mercy Monastic Tradition grants both Hand of Healing and Hand of Harm at 3rd level. Hand of Healing/Harm describe their effects as using 1 ki point to heal or to deal necrotic damage equal to one roll of a Martial Arts die + Wisdom Modifier, but Hand of Harm has the stipulation that it can only be used once a turn, and can't be added to Flurry of Blows to negate the Ki point cost.

Even at 17th level, the maximum damage is only 15 (1d10+Max Wisdom Mod), and 25 on crit. Hand of Harm doesn't even get the ability to be used more than once a turn by
It's just my old question on Way of Mercy monk from yesterday, but more directed.

What's hand of healing like?
because the title seems like it should not in fact be "what's the impact of never being able to use it more than once", instead it should be "What would be the impact if I let Hand of Harm be used more than once, like Hand of Healing?"

Yeah that makes more sense, I'll change the title to that
Any other edits I should make? I really don't want this to end up like the dumpster fires I asked yesterday

I would then update the final line to be a bit more explicit and well-defined: "If I were to modify Hand of Harm so it could be used {describe timing here}, like we see on Hand of Healing, what would the mechanical impacts of that be?"
less "what if it was written more like [other feature]", more "what if it worked [this exact way], like we see in [other feature]"

That is a very good note, I'll keep that in mind

because "what if it was written more like hand of healing?" is kind of a vague statement as to in what way it would be written more like hand of healing. context cues make it clear you mean in the way it can be used more than once, but you should make that clear since it costs little & will improve the answers you get.
(& if you didn't specify it that way, you'd probably get someone asking you to clarify that you do mean it that way, and they'd edit your question to say so, so you'd get there anyway)

1:41 PM
If I were to modify Hand of Harm so it could be used in Flurry of Blows, and more than once a turn, like we see on Hand of Healing, what would the mechanical impacts of that be?
this is my new last line
posted the question. here's hoping it goes well.

2:05 PM
well darn, thomas has a problem with it :/

Hello everyone!

morning, eddy

My man, that one is...a lil unsaveable

I got 3 answers so far: two of them were not actually answering, it seemed that there is some misunderstandig

2:11 PM
Only real reason is that the designers wanted to be more in line with recent tech
i think

is it clear enough that I am asking for a in-wolrd explanation and not for a designer-reason?
and I am asking about the natural trait and not about the spell that have the same name?
@wheatleycrab No, I am not asking why this change occurred
It is quite evident that the old infravision was a huge pain to play at the table
@wheatleycrab I love to talk to people all over the world! :-D

2:41 PM
@Eddymage It's 100% clear. The difficulty is that it's a hard question and people like to answer.
So we get answers that aren't what you're looking for because they don't want it unanswered.
It's similar to the difficulty of designer-reasons in that specific quotes from the lore is what you're looking for rather tahn specific quotes from designers. Both are difficult, both are often answered poorly and only sometimes get community pushback.
@wheatleycrab Out of curiosity, after seeing Groody's answer before, that capt. obvious is answer is more damage ;P
What are you actually trying to get out of the question?

Just trying to fix the mistake I made with the old question. If someone else has a new idea or groody wants to repost it here, that's fine

@NautArch Total damage is the same whether you blow it all at once as opposed to only once per turn, but the pacing of the damage is more the argument, no?
The bonus-action spell rule might be a relevant point to consider

@Someone_Evil I'm not sure, that's why I'm asking what they're really trying to get out of this. I think it's more "can I do this, is it okay?"
Which isn't quite the same question, but super close.

@AndrewMicallef 😊

Actually, while I think of it, I had a question around the analysis you had. Specifically you compare 9 (average) "necrotic damage to other martial and spellcasters" and I was wondering what exactly you were comparing that against

2:47 PM
@Someone_Evil @wheatleycrab What's the rest of the party makeup? What's their damage output generally look like?

@NautArch That's a relief!

It's not a party or anything, my original question was literally because I was a little confused by the way of mercy monk while reading through tasha's cauldron for shits & giggles

@Eddymage Hard questions are hard, but that's okay. We just have to better as a community with shutting down bad answers (and we've been pretty good about it with this question.)

@NautArch Yep, I thiink you're right
@NautArch Yes, I agree: the two now deleted answers were dealt well, ihmo

The Vecna answer was more difficult to really parse (at least for me). I waited until your response before voting.

2:50 PM
there is one now (the one about Vecna) that has a slight positive score, but I believe that it does not answer, and it focused on the spell changes

It 100% does, and that's why I downvoted it.

Moreover, this comment suggests that there is some discrepancy between rules/manuals and novels

<shocked fry>

Q: Witty, clever & funny: let's collect the bounty's messages!

EddymageIn the past, several bounties have been offered, both for making questions attract more answers and for rewarding already existent answers (which are the actual aims of bounties). Beside the default ones, some users started to write witty messages for the bounty: since I truly believe that a lot ...

@Eddymage Here's one I gave to you:
I'm awarding 500 Markov's Salt & Vinegar internet points to Eddymage's answer for the several keen observations made about the magic items from the more recent book releases.

Warning: Internet points manufactured in a facility that also produces reddit karma.
> The partners at the offices of Markov, Markov, and Markov would like to present this certificate of achievement, along with a gift certificate worth 500 points, usable only in our gift shop (except where local law requires such financial instruments be accepted in place of cash), to Tim Grant.

@ThomasMarkov Yeah, I remember: I loved it!

here we go again, workshopping another question!
What's the absolute maximum HP a character can have?
For this question, I am asking for the maximum HP possible.

With a 20th level character and 20's across the board in stats, what's the max?

Magic items and outside assistance is allowed.
Playable races, spells, etc. from Unearthed Arcana is not.
No usage of Wish. It's too easy of an answer.
Reliance on incredible luck, such as needing a specific effect on the Wild Magic Surge table, is not allowed unless you can circumvent it with wild shenanigans.
Permanent max HP is the main goal.
I'm surprised I haven't seen this question yet, which is why I am asking it now! Credit to the highest AC a

yeah, i know. saw that one.

Definitely do a google search for questions before asking :)
The stack search ain't great

It wasn't that I didn't search it, I searched max hp before making the question

Also, you should delete your Mage answer.

then searched most hp after making it
might as well.
