Q: If a druid Wild Shapes and merges with a telepathic sentient item, will the item's telepathy be suppressed?

InterstellarProbeSuppose a druid is in possession of a sentient magical item that possesses telepathy. If the druid wild shapes and chooses to merge the item into their form, will the item's telepathy be suppressed? The rules say, "Equipment that merges with the form has no effect until you leave the form." Is te...

Q: Is it a bug or intended that Unarmored defense from barbarian and monk overwrite each other?

RobbeFor science I made a level 1 monk and level 1 barbarian character. I set all the stats to 18. Monks unarmored defense your AC = 10 + Dex + Wis. Then with the Barbarian it adds Con. Yet the AC was still only 18. Is this intended or is this a bug with dndbeyond?

Q: What are some feats that are required to maximize eldritch blast damage output?

UniQuadrionI am working on a warlock build for my next campaign and I am having trouble finding feats that would apply and boost Warlock's eldritch blast damage output. This is because Warlock is not a traditional spell caster from PHB and I am unsure which feats would apply to EB as its a ranged touch atta...

what's the etiquette for accepting on a self-answered question?
I just threw something up for a detail about label shifting and rejecting influence in Masks that I didn't realise for a long time, which I thought was worth having on the site.

I think there's a waiting period before you can accept a SAQ, but if it's really the solution most helpful to you, go for it.
Answer-accepting is very much a "whatever you want, it doesn't actually matter because votes exist" thing.

aha, yep - tried accepting and it told me there's a two-day cooldown.
This one's pretty clear-cut but it's always possible someone will explain better than me!
thanks for filling me in <3

And if that happens, you can shift your checkmark.

Q: How common are vampires in the Forgotten Realms?

HellSaintSo, the underlying question here is: how much knowledge about vampires do adventurers or regular people in the forgotten realms have about vampires? Do they know their weaknesses (sunlight, running water, stake in the heart...), their reproduction mechanics, their feeding habits? The reason I am...

Q: How does the Gloom Stalker ranger's Dread Ambusher feature interact with Surprise?

EcnerwalIn D&D 5e, if a Gloom Stalker Ranger uses their Dread Ambusher feature's secondary attack on a creature during a surprise round (whether on the same target or a different one), is that creature still considered surprised? This is important if the character is multiclassed with Assassin rogue, be...

@NautArch \oo//

last friday, i only had 3 players. and gotta say, it was nice with a smaller group.

@NautArch did you kill one off...?

@AncientSwordRage a lot of the others all had other plans. I've currently got 8 active players.

@NautArch Ok, thats ...lots

1:04 PM
@AncientSwordRage yeah, things tend to move a little more slowly

I bet
When I last GM'd....~10 years ago I thought 6 was too many

@AncientSwordRage Yeah, it's tough. THe large party actually helps a bit with the Dead in Thay dungeon, but it also slows things down a lot.

@NautArch is it a good module?

@AncientSwordRage I'm loving it, but there are some real quirks.
It's incredibly deadly, but the information flow to the players about what they really need has been nonexistent. THey've cleared out some major sections and learned nothing because they just haven't gotten to an area where they can learn.
And it's random where they start because the players get to choose.

@NautArch whack
I wonder if the alexandrian has gone over it? They've covered/ or are covering Descent into Avernus

1:19 PM
@AncientSwordRage linky?
@AncientSwordRage Well, here's the thing. Learning what was in those areas has been useful. And they have freed up some monsters to help them who had been trapped there, too.
So it hasn't been unhelpful, just not helpful in moving the story forward.
But helpful in mechanically assisting their progress.

@AncientSwordRage Thansk! Passed it on to my DM who is running that. I'll stay away from reading :)
@AncientSwordRage doesn't look like they did anything with Dead in Thay

@NautArch shame
they're big on game structure, so it may be a full re-write for DiA

Potentially. BBeast did do a Q&A here on it, and i've made some changes based on that.
has definitely helped

@Rubiksmoose I just scrolled down the system list in your bio and saw The Skeletons! I would love to play that sometime.

@LizWeir It was a lot of fun!
I actually got to play it since it was another member of my group that found it and wanted to run it :)

I kinda played along with an actual play podcast I follow doing a one-shot a year or two back, and the moment when I'd been sitting quietly for half an hour and basically drifted off and then suddenly "ARISE, SKELETAL GUARDIANS, AND DEFEND THE TOMB"
it was Quite Something <3

3:25 PM
I agree! It was a strange and wonderful experience

just after this conversation I spotted one of my friends saying they're planning some one-shots, and mentioned they like weird games about death
which is perfect timing for a recommendation ;-)

Q: What happens when a character fails to reject influence that would put a label above +3 or below -2?

LizWeirThe Labels in Masks: A New Generation are fixed between -2 and +3. From the rulebook: If you ever need to shift a Label and can’t (because the Label is at +3 and would shift up, or is at -2 and would shift down), you must mark a condition, GM’s choice. When a character with Influence over ...

Does anyone else with the privilege (25k) see page views on site analytics for the days after the 30th?

^^ Weird ....

Ok, not just me. Off bug reporting I go

To meta!
(Gird yourself.)

@Someone_Evil Does it update every day?

6:16 PM
@Medix2 Yes(?), there's data for up to yesterday for all the other metrics and I've never seen data missing before (there's a cutoff backwards to some of it because it wasn't recorded at the time)

@Someone_Evil ah yup, not entirely sure if this is the right thing but yeah, should've been updated by now, time to search the Metas

@V2Blast I've got a strange request: can you send me a message of mine from TL? A day or two before I descended from Olympus we were chatting in there about non-5e games for the summer, and I remember inventing off-the-cuff a multi-system hack that I might like to try. If you can find that, would you mind sending it to my email on file? I'd like to use it as a kernel for the pitch document I'm pulling together.
(Searching "microscope" posted by me would probably get you there right-fast.)
Thanks.

woohoo! Successfully got my minecraft server up and running.

well, my Paladin of Ilmater is now attuned to a sentient artifact that enjoys stubbornness and senseless destruction
I can do one of these things
this is going to go... interestingly
the wizard has told me artifacts are a crystallised ideology rather than a thinking being, and trying to redeem it is basically pointless.
I'm going for a second opinion from a priest. ;-)

8:29 PM
@Rubiksmoose All's good with the meta question thing, just means it seems like most people agree on the issue instead XD

@Medix2 Cool :) Didn't want you to think I was trying to undercut you is all.
And I do think it will still be just as interesting of a question since the behavior does seem to go against some interpretations of the standing policy. So clarification does seem like it would be helpful.

@GcL I haven't, but I also don't play Minecraft :) it's for my kids and their friends

@NautArch I am hacking together an artifact (there will be a total of three in the whole game world, this is the first) with my brother. We have a level 13 attribute: "at 13th level necrotic damage heals you instead" (We decided to have the artifact unlock one power and one side effect based on the level of the PC). For level 13-20, is this way out of whack for artifact powers? (We have a minor or major drawback for each gated power.)

Oh hmmm, I forgot about this might be a dupe...

Q: Can a ghost enter a Resilient Sphere?

Niall FormanThe spell Otiluke's Resilient Sphere says that nothing can pass through it. The spell Wall of Force says that too, but the Wall of Force spell also says that the spell extends into the Ethereal Plane, preventing ethereal travel. From this, my understanding is that a ghost could move through the ...
