Suppose a druid is in possession of a sentient magical item that possesses telepathy. If the druid wild shapes and chooses to merge the item into their form, will the item's telepathy be suppressed? The rules say, "Equipment that merges with the form has no effect until you leave the form." Is te...
For science I made a level 1 monk and level 1 barbarian character.
I set all the stats to 18.
Monks unarmored defense your AC = 10 + Dex + Wis.
Then with the Barbarian it adds Con.
Yet the AC was still only 18.
Is this intended or is this a bug with dndbeyond?
I am working on a warlock build for my next campaign and I am having trouble finding feats that would apply and boost Warlock's eldritch blast damage output. This is because Warlock is not a traditional spell caster from PHB and I am unsure which feats would apply to EB as its a ranged touch atta...
what's the etiquette for accepting on a self-answered question?
I just threw something up for a detail about label shifting and rejecting influence in Masks that I didn't realise for a long time, which I thought was worth having on the site.
So, the underlying question here is: how much knowledge about vampires do adventurers or regular people in the forgotten realms have about vampires? Do they know their weaknesses (sunlight, running water, stake in the heart...), their reproduction mechanics, their feeding habits?
The reason I am...
In D&D 5e, if a Gloom Stalker Ranger uses their Dread Ambusher feature's secondary attack on a creature during a surprise round (whether on the same target or a different one), is that creature still considered surprised?
This is important if the character is multiclassed with Assassin rogue, be...
@AncientSwordRage I'm loving it, but there are some real quirks.
It's incredibly deadly, but the information flow to the players about what they really need has been nonexistent. THey've cleared out some major sections and learned nothing because they just haven't gotten to an area where they can learn.
And it's random where they start because the players get to choose.
@AncientSwordRage Well, here's the thing. Learning what was in those areas has been useful. And they have freed up some monsters to help them who had been trapped there, too.
So it hasn't been unhelpful, just not helpful in moving the story forward.
But helpful in mechanically assisting their progress.
I kinda played along with an actual play podcast I follow doing a one-shot a year or two back, and the moment when I'd been sitting quietly for half an hour and basically drifted off and then suddenly "ARISE, SKELETAL GUARDIANS, AND DEFEND THE TOMB"
The Labels in Masks: A New Generation are fixed between -2 and +3. From the rulebook:
If you ever need to shift a Label and can’t (because the Label is at +3 and would shift up, or is at -2 and would shift down), you must mark a condition, GM’s choice.
When a character with Influence over ...
The following deleted question was tagged dnd-beyond and was closed because it was not tagged dnd-5e, it was reopened once it received that tag:
Why does DnD beyond add +2 to my starting health?
Meanwhile, the following questions were tagged with dnd-beyond, did not mention dnd-5e explicitly,...
@Medix2 Yes(?), there's data for up to yesterday for all the other metrics and I've never seen data missing before (there's a cutoff backwards to some of it because it wasn't recorded at the time)
@V2Blast I've got a strange request: can you send me a message of mine from TL? A day or two before I descended from Olympus we were chatting in there about non-5e games for the summer, and I remember inventing off-the-cuff a multi-system hack that I might like to try. If you can find that, would you mind sending it to my email on file? I'd like to use it as a kernel for the pitch document I'm pulling together.
(Searching "microscope" posted by me would probably get you there right-fast.)
@Medix2 Cool :) Didn't want you to think I was trying to undercut you is all.
And I do think it will still be just as interesting of a question since the behavior does seem to go against some interpretations of the standing policy. So clarification does seem like it would be helpful.
@NautArch I am hacking together an artifact (there will be a total of three in the whole game world, this is the first) with my brother. We have a level 13 attribute: "at 13th level necrotic damage heals you instead" (We decided to have the artifact unlock one power and one side effect based on the level of the PC). For level 13-20, is this way out of whack for artifact powers? (We have a minor or major drawback for each gated power.)
The spell Otiluke's Resilient Sphere says that nothing can pass through it. The spell Wall of Force says that too, but the Wall of Force spell also says that the spell extends into the Ethereal Plane, preventing ethereal travel.
From this, my understanding is that a ghost could move through the ...
