@NautArch Are you sure you didn't cross connect anything? I fried one motherboard doing that, and I killed one by overtightening a screw and causing cracks.

@KorvinStarmast My gaming machine also currently won't turn on after we had a power outage :(. Weird thing was, I got a POST, but it wasn't loading my SSD with my OS. Opened the case and saw the power removed from the SSD and put it back in. Then it wouldn't turn on at all. Gotta pull that thing apart, too.

@G.Moylan the capacitors popped, it appears, once we took the PSU apart ...

@JohnP DOn't think so, but who knows? Testing out a new PSU in the next day or so. If that doesn't fix it, i'll have ot replace the Mobo.

@NautArch I will assume that you have a UPS that filters power in from outside the house?

But tehre isn't a lot connected to it. It's got 7 SATA drives, 2 sticks of RAM and a CPU. that's it.

@NautArch Did you already add the drive, or was this pre adding your 8th drive?

@JohnP Not yet, I didn't plug in the 8th. I need to do some maintenance/drive moving first to open up space for it.

@NautArch my one remaining desktop at home still has that, and my laptop is only plugged in to reccharge via filtered power. Oh, dear, the power surge ate the UPS?

@JohnP Well, I"m considering that, too. And why I bought a new one with more wattage and higher efficiency since this thing runs 24/7.

@KorvinStarmast No, that UPS is fine. As are the devices hooked up to it. I think there's a loose cable in the box and I've just to gto open it up and reseat everything.

It's so good. I think she may. I haven't tried to see if my wife will get into it, but she's considering starting Stranger Things, so I'm waiting on that :)

Heh, my wife watched the first season of ST and I never watched it, I have some catching up to do.

I'm basically waiting on her to watch the first season so I can watch 2 and 3 with her

@NautArch You know, surprisingly to me, I watched the first two episodes and just couldn't get into it. Might have been my mood or just the tone of the show or something. I have friends that love it, but I just didn't. No idea why.

I very much enjoyed ST though haven't even started season 3 yet.

@Rubiksmoose Oh, yeah. Trying to rmember if I was hooked immediately with Expanse or not. I think I was. THe combo of good science, good story, and great effects drew me in. Some characters are over the top, but it worked for me.

@NautArch As I recall now, I wasn't in a great place emotionally when I started watching it, and the tone seemed pretty grim from the first two. So maybe that was it.

ok, gotta head out early to go by our datacenter and snag a couple drives. You wouldn't believe how complicated it was to copy cloned VM's to an external drive using VMWare...
