@Miniman zing!

12:37 AM
lol

1:23 AM
@BESW It came out meaner than I meant to be. Guess I was pretty grumpy about them trying to dump their trash on us.

Mornin'

Good time of day yes

6:19 AM

Q: How can I sort my posts by "Last Time Edited"?

Baskakov_DmitriyI got my second Yearling badge a few weeks ago. I've learned a lot about RPGs during my time here, I've also learned a lot about the StackExchange culture, which took a good bit of time to get a grasp of. My English is still pretty bad, but it has also improved significantly. Thanks for the hel...

6:31 AM
@kviiri any particular kinda?

@trogdor Something very classic, apart from the annoying perception check / random trap schenanigans

ah

Like go in, fight some monsters, encounter a few weird sights and curious magitech mechanisms and emerge with loot.

6:59 AM
cool stuff
is there anything more specific than that like a villain you have in mind or?

9:31 AM
@trogdor I've been thinking of a basic setting of rival lords, who are epic mages and warriors and stuff and constantly scheming against each other

ah

Something simple like that but with lots of room to grow

so they like, hire adventurers to screw around with each other?

Yeah :>
Because everyone constantly has their palantirs tuned at each other so they can't really make surprise attacks personally.
(also they like to honor the genre traditions)

9:46 AM
lol

12:44 PM
hey there @Anaphory

1:07 PM
Heyhey!

what's up?

Not much at the moment, in particular not role-playing–wise today because I'm trying to find a good way to dig through a heap of academic literature.

1:23 PM
I hope it's interesting literature :>
I should fire up a couple o'dozen batch jobs today

It's trying to dig into the literature of formal models of grammatical change. A lot of that stuff is quite interesting, but things are also very disconnected, so I'm trying to find a good way to visualize the connections, their lack, and the gaps in the literature.
Haven't found a good way yet, though – Google Scholar does not list forward references (“cites”) but only backward references (“is cited by”) for some reason, and does not have have an API; Web of Science does not have many of the more humanities-based references I am looking at; Scopus I've got no access to; Microsoft Academic Search is still tiny.

@nitsua60 @doppelgreener This question is a better duplicate target than the one I chose, but it is also duped with the spell one. Should I add the duped question to the dupe list or just dupe the better target?
Or leave as is.

@DavidCoffron I'm not 100% sure it's a dupe. It seems more like an off topic rant.

2:48 PM
Well I mean the title question is a dupe. Not sure if the real question is "how to make my group follow the rules?" but the "question" is answered at the dupe spots

I think it might be editable into a legit question, but yeah, it's very ranty.

@DavidCoffron [shrugs, adds to the list]
But yeah it does read like a rant
I'm not sure either one is perfect as a dupe, but we can point them to either and they can see what works for them.

3:15 PM
Dang. He really is heated about this.
Oh! He's asking if it's different for the adjacent enemy than for the other enemies

4:15 PM
Is asking a question knowing it will be close as off topic for designer intent to prove a point bad practice?

4:28 PM
Prove a point regarding what? That the practice is flawed or something regarding the actual game content?
(I assume you mean the latter, given the circumstance, but I still want to be sure I'm not misunderstanding you)

4:55 PM
@kviiri i was recommended by a mod to ask the question which is definitely off topic. Not sure if I should ask it per the mod request or refrain since I know site policy.

I'll run a game of Mouse Guard next weekend. Time to think of interesting monsters. Not a huge predator. Ferrets, Weasels have too much lore attached to them, which I don't want to change, but also don't want to throw at noobs. Something that digs? Foxes and Badgers are probably still too large. A mole? Hm. Maybe a group of rabbits moving to a new place? How do rabbits migrate?

Sup dudes

7:26 PM
Seriously, why does MG lore lump all the appropriate mustelids together as forming the other intelligent, cultured species in the Territories! In real life, these animals are barely social. Maybe I should just drop that bit of setting lore and take some kind or another of mustelid.

1 hour later…
8:37 PM
@DavidCoffron Why would following bad advice be a good idea?
Chances are the mod didn't understand what you were asking, right, so what's the point you're making by acting on a miscommunication in bad faith?

8:55 PM
@BESW Nothing. I was angry at the time. Was being petty. I'll handle myself better

Fair enough. That's solid self-awareness, good on ya.
