Our Very Own JuneShores has a superhero system in playtesting, but we keep getting hung up on the theme part of setting creation.
@Anaphory That sounds interesting indeed
Theme part? As in, “What do we fight (for)?”?
@BESW it is too bad that we keep snagging on that
I never was that keen about superheroics either, but I think Worm did some good things with it, like by emphasizing group synergy over individual superpowers
@Anaphory Superhero stories tend to have a recurring thematic motif. Spider-Man's is one of the most explicit: "with great power comes great responsibility." It's not just Peter Parker's motivation--many of his villains are twisted expressions of the theme.
They're explorations of, for example, what do you get if you seek great power irresponsibly? Or what happens to people who are the victims of irresponsible power?
11:03
@BESW And in JuneShores' game, deciding that is part of setting creation? That sounds hard.
I mean, depending on your question you may want one focus in mechanics or another one.
yeah, we're supposed to come up with a few phrases like that which can be used to inform our character creation, and villain creation, and give the GM prompts for adventures.
The only game I can think of doing something like that is The Veil, another PbtA game. It's cyberpunk, and very much works with an implicit question/theme that is supposed to be made more and more explicit and honed in on over gameplay.
I haven't played it, so I don't know how well that works in practice.
Dogs in the Vineyard/The Princes' Kingdom has a "digging into a moral question" element built into the GM's adventure construction, but the players only get to decide how they respond to it.
One way that mode of play is supported in the Veil is through the PbtA-typical strong archetypes and class-specific moves, so by picking your playbook you implicitly zoom in on some questions you might find interesting while discarding others.
And of course games like Dog Eat Dog and 14 Days are built from the bottom up with a very specific question or theme to explore.
11:09
Which one was 14 days again?
The one about living with chronic pain.
11:24
Is there a repository for free to download AW hacks somewhere? I recall seeing one which included also pay-to-download ones
apocalypse-world.com/pbta this one I think
That's the one I know.
(also those are "pbta" which is a far wider category)
@kviiri It does have a free-to-download category
Just click the free to download tag?
Hoho, thanks you both :D
The font is so dark blue my eye missed it completely
Ok, it shows far better on my better monitor
11:26
Good morning, Imaginauts.
@kviiri Yes, there are some very strong deviations from AW listed in that category, like Midsummer Wood and Ghost Lines.
> You need a deck of cards to play. Each card represents a specific person, place, thing, or event. You make a map of cards laid out on the table, and you also draw cards to resolve actions, instead of rolling dice. The game is structured in scenes, and you can play with or without a GM (that role is split in two).
(I don't know most of the others. Powered by the Apocalypse World is strange, but a pretty strange hack.)
I once started my own Apocalypse World hack based on Dungeon World and Apocalypse World, with the intent being to create a high-fantasy Apocalypse World without the strong DnD influences DW has
I ran a bit dry of ideas quite soon into it, though.
@kviiri Maybe a Hundred Thousand Kingdoms game?
That's a high fantasy setting which is very not-D&D.
11:30
I haven't read it, but I think I've heard of it
It's good! Not Jemisin's best (that's Broken Earth, I'd say) but interesting and engaging.
I think I'd also be better equipped to work on the game in general than I was back then
I understand the ways system matters far better than back then
Cool.
11:47
I still don't get AW.
12:20
What about it in particular?
@BESW I thought you were “Yes, it looks nice and if I had encountered it ten years earlier it would have been paradigm-shiftingly awesome but these days I find other things much more interesting and challenging”?
12:45
Hnnng, a friend asked me about Savage Worlds and now I'm all cranky again
12:57
Why!?
Flashbacks... it's not a good system.
How's it handle those?
13:13
@doppelgreener I mean, my flashbacks from the time when I played SW :D
@kviiri Oh. ;P I thought it had a bad flashback implementation.
I think SW ruined one of our players. Granted, he wasn't super active even before, but then one session landed a -3 wound penalty upon him practically stripping him of his ability to do a thing
Those things take ages to heal in SW... which we didn't play straight, but spending even a single combat incapable of hitting a single enemy is too much
I remember my first/only SW character, I built him as a detective and then we immediately went into combat and he couldn't do anything because in-combat and out-of-combat character building resources are 100% shared
(don't want to interrupt but... I see SW and read Star Wars automatically.... I know you mean Savage Worlds but... That's it. Go on)
@SPavel Yeouch :(
SW somehow manages to have a weird assortment of my pet peeves in RPG design
Non-commutative character building: micromanaging option picks to get optimal builds. Shared resources for combat and non-combat. Weird wound system that's hard to understand and that can stunlock characters for several turns
I think it could've been bearably good with three stipulations: 1) No pretenses that it's not a combat game, 2) Everyone plays three or so characters so players are less likely to be left without agency and 3) Healing between missions is provided
13:29
Would love to see an RPG where "a man with a gun is firing his gun at me" exerts the psychological effect it would in real life and not "hah, he rolled 1 less than my AC, the bullet whizzes past harmlessly and now I saunter over there and disembowel him with my bardiche"
Suppressive fire is a thing
I'd like to see that in tactical combat too.
Dont know if this was posted already but the baby eaglet has been ringed and the camera adjusted youtu.be/MREnM-vTWeo
@SPavel It would be a thing in RPGs with no rule changes really needed if there were gun mechanics that kill or disable you with a single hit
Apocalypse World doesn't do tactical combat, really, but Seize by Force (which is the basic battle move) can cause the effect "You impress, dismay or frighten your enemy"
@Rubiksmoose Thank you for that pointer/tip. :)
@SirCinnamon Not really, because a gun in the hands of an unarmed peasant is no danger to a hero, the peasant will never hit
@kviiri puts all ranks in dabbing alright enemies, prepare to be impressed
13:34
@HellSaint I am already seeing bloat in Mord's book ... but I think it's the nature of the beast to a certain extent. Has been since the day the first supplement was published ... in like 1974-1975. (Heck, even Strategic Review was adding stuff like the Ranger, the Bard, and the Mind Flayer)
@SPavel That depends on the specific rules of the game, and the weapon
you can only be so innacurate with a minigun or rocket launcher
@KorvinStarmast You're welcome :)
The rules of the game should reflect that
Not sure why everyone kind of locked in on flanking as the best example of something to grant advantage though...
@SPavel Once a player picked that option and declared that his shot hits the enemy's manbun, unraveling it. The enemy was so impressed that he switched sides immediately
13:37
@kviiri Plot twist: man bun concealed mind-control brain slug
It's so easy to just pick the simplest two options: +1 harm to enemies or -1 harm to self, that I really like going out of my way to make the other two rewarding.
During a white elephant gifts exchange between the New York office and the Minsk office, one person sent to Minsk a clip-on man bun
The Belarusians thought it was one half of Princess Leia's hairdo, and looked for the second half.
@KorvinStarmast cleared my comments btw :)
@SPavel I would have suggested trying SAO, but that comes with a pack of fun side effects like real pain if you are hit, real death if you die, starving, muscular atrophy and so on...
13:43
@Derpy I would never play a VR MMO
It would be awful
@Derpy Also comes with a heaping plateful of bad plot devices and lazy writing ;)
"VR D&D MMO: you are doomed"
Hey, Mr. paladin, do you remember how this dungeon we are going to explore was called?""I think it was something like Tomb of Horror?"
@Derpy Nobody would explore dungeons, they would build nubile elf maiden characters and, well, you know
I would just cut the crap and call my game (as imaginary designer): Nubile Elf Maiden Online (NEMO).
13:59
I wouldn't want to do a VR MMO. It would make grinding sessions extra boring.
@Maximillian Not in the above scenario
I don't want to virtually hit an anvil with a hammer for hours to level up blacksmithing. :(
@Maximillian ah yes I remember jumping/sneaking everywhere to level up skills in Skyrim.
@Maximillian Now with realistic eye damage due to "keep watching flame very closely"!
VR MMO would be cool. Everyone would be doing Nubile Elf Maidens while I keep trying to make my dude cool and I would look unike only for not being female, or extremely disproportionate a la cartoon network male
14:06
And if you wait a week, VR MMO will add a Battlegrounds mode. 50 heroes droped onto an island. ONE PRINCESS.
Omg not more Battle Royale cancer please
yesss
battle royale to be the next oversaturated genre after multiplayer crafting zombie survival games
We're actually going to play a battle royale themed DnD 5e one shot next week
The idea is... fun, but I'm a bit concerned by some details
One of them being that we start gearless. I should've picked monk.
@Maximillian Ah yes, the infamous Battle Royal.
@kviiri that might be fun, but eventually only 1 member of the party will be in the game :P
14:13
Speaking of video games though I'm pretty hyped for Nintendo's E3 conference today.
@Helwar Oh, to clarify, it's on a team basis
So we don't have to turn on each other
As far as I know
haha
@kviiri It is always good to have the option though lol
I sure hope the grand finale doesn't include that because it's going to be unbalanced as heck. I'm playing a rogue, I need my friends!
My players would start infighting as soon as they knew it was on an individual basis, instead of teaming together and survive and then "let's see what happens"
14:14
Knights running around an island countryside, kicking open doors so they can bolt on random pieces of plate, polearms, swords, shields, bows....
And for some reason one guy in a banana suit.
I was supposed to play a Fighter but another player took it first
So I decided my character's a Scout Rogue who was kicked out of Fighter school because they were too cowardly and despises any "actual fighters" as a result
Oh, sorry, I mean "My Guy is a Scout Rogue..."
hahaha and so the in-fighting begins before the game does.
@kviiri By "gearless", does that also include no component pouches?
@Maximillian Playing some sick electric guitar.
@Yuuki No component pouches. I think clothes are allowed but nothing with a mechanical effect.
@Rubiksmoose Serves the GM right for such a rubbish scenario ;))
@kviiri Huh, casters might have it worse than anyone else.
14:22
@Yuuki Yup. They are effectively screwed. Good luck finding bat guano for that fireball without getting murdered first.
And even once they get components, there's only so many spells in a day.
@Yuuki I have no idea how it's going to play out, yeah...
14:36
@Yuuki arcane focus?
Still only have a certain amount of Fireballs in a day.
true
buffs and debuffs
control some other meatshield
Probably be smarter just to get components for Invisibility, sneak your way to the final round, and then Finger of Death the last guy.
fly around letting fire bolts rain
At least we start at L5
14:38
lvl 1 would be great
...so monks are even more OP
you would die for absolutely anything
haha
@Helwar It would be a very quick game lol
sigh, little more than an hour until the nintendo direct and I'll be in the torture room, i mean, the dentist T_T
Three new flavors of DS. More Amiibo. An Undertale character in Smash. New F-Zero.
14:46
Undertale in Smash is a bit unexpected
Mother 3 :P
@Helwar So hyped!
Undertale in Smash would is a very interesting prediction
Personally, I hope they cut some of the characters from S4 honestly. I feel like the roster is getting too big.
I was checking the gamefaqs forum (dunno why I do that to myself) and people is still Ridley this, Ridley that... Also some vocal minority hoping Sora gets in
he won't... and I'd prefer King Mickey as a KH Rep anyway (not gonna happen either way :P)
@Rubiksmoose No cuts plz... Cuts would mean Lucas is gone, and I play lucas 99% of the time
@Helwar As someone who always wanted to play KH but never had a console that could play it, I do think Sora would be a cool addition personally.
not saying it would be a bad addition
@Rubiksmoose Ought to just go back to the n64 set. Captain Falcon, Fox, Mario, Luigi, Kirby, Ness, Pikachu, Link, DK, Ice Climbers, Samus, and Zelda (I might be forgetting a pair?)
14:55
just that I prefer King Mickey... watching the mouse jump and fight like Yoda in SW ep 2 is gorgeous
Although I really don't get the Ridley obsession. I mean I love me some Metroid hardcore don't get me wrong. And I wouldn't object, but why Ridley?
Because Chain Chomp is too big for their budget.
The safe bet is Simon Belmont.
n64 didn't have zelda. It was Mario, Luigi, Link, ElectroRat, Kirby, Fox, C.Falcon, Jigglypuff, Ness, and DK
@Helwar Yeah but then Smash would get DMCA'd.
14:57
@Helwar Zelda is the green one with a sword and shield right?
I've never really played Smash but didn't the competitive scene sort of come into being after the most recent installment?
I wonder if that influences the next one's design.
NO it wouldn't, because if it happened it would be in collaboration with Disney :P It won't happen I'm not delusional but if it did, I assume I'd be legal :P
@Rubiksmoose Green one? You're thinking of Tingle.
@Rubiksmoose ugh, one of those...
hahahaha
14:58
@Rubiksmoose No, that's Legend of Zelda.
@Helwar Ah, Jigglypuff. That's the one I missed
He's, uh, so cool he's a legend and he serves Zelda, ergo Legend of Zelda
@kviiri Competitive scene is BS. Everytime I hear something is drama, and praising mods over the actual game...
I just knew it was an even number, so I knew I had to make it even
Hot take: I prefer Time Mode to Stock Mode.
14:59
Ohhh that makes much more sense. Now I can confidently go out with my new knowledge of two characters: Zelda and Legend of Zelda.
(And the first rule of Tautology Club is the first rule of Tautology Club)
I preferred stock years ago... but now I like time. It encourages yo uto act rather than hide, and yo udon't leave the losers watching and waiting
@Yuuki The reason I don't is because camping becomes pretty powerful.
@Rubiksmoose Both modes do nothing to disincentivize camping.
But apparently we have opposite experiences there.
15:01
@Rubiksmoose isn't it the other way around?
If you really don't want camping, Coin Mode is the best.
Nuclear take: Pokefloats is the best Smash stage ever.
@Helwar I always figured that 1v1 on time once you were ahead you could just camp/avoid but I guess you can do the exact same thing with stock.
hum, i usually don't play 1vs1
Ah yeah playing with more definitely changes things.
it's free for all or nothing, usually
with items, obviously
15:03
I usually play with the more competitive rule sets (1v1 or 2v2 no items)
Jumps in to a smash bros convo lol. I just overplayed that with my brother all night and am dying from sleep deprivation rn
@DavidCoffron Did you tap jump into this or did you turn that off?
@Rubiksmoose I HATE tap jump. That is gone
bumper jump is best jump
@DavidCoffron idk about bumper jump, but tap jump really is the worst.
@Rubiksmoose Bumper jump makes it really easy to short-hop fair or nair (which is almost always good unless you are Mario)
15:06
I'm super ultra hiper mega anti-competitive-scene
@Helwar Idk much about the competitive scene, but I like competitive formats when I'm playing with my friends just because it makes things balanced (although I don't mind throwing in some goldewn hammers every once in a while)
Which is totally valid (and likely intended) way to play the game. Though hopefully you don't rain on the parade of those who do like the mosre competative rules.
no not at all
it's the other way around usually
@DavidCoffron It has been a while since I played/competed so I can't remember, but I likely did have bumper jump. I play Rosalina mainly.
i do my thing and people then complains I do not follow "the procedure"
15:08
@Helwar Very true.
@Rubiksmoose I don't know about sole intended. While they definitely accommodate the core party-game-format, they release balance patches so at least part of their focus is on competition.
@Helwar Look, man. 3 Stock. No items. Fox Only. Final Destination.
(Final Destination is the worst map ever and I hated everyone who demanded that map)
@DavidCoffron For sure I actually thought that exact thing when I wrote that.
@Yuuki the ssb4 equivalent is CF only
(and provbably 2 stock)
@Yuuki Maybe not the worst, but definitely not a balanced one.
15:10
@Rubiksmoose Yeah, a lot of characterts benefit from platforms so having none makes a little tough for them
I remember on pokemon XY, I just made a team, it wasn't even something competitive, all pokemon with regular IVs and whatever. I tried to fight online, i used a gengar with hipnosis and slept half the other guy team when he started messaging me that I was cheating because that wasn't allowed in some non oficial tournaments....
that A) I wouldn't know because i don't play nor follow competitive and B) this wasn't a tournament... it was just a random match online. That he won, by the way
@Helwar that's just silly
@DavidCoffron CF?
@Helwar Ah yeah good ol' Smogon rules likely.
it makes me salty when the competitive guys try to impose on me
yeah, Smogon, I couldn't remember the name
15:11
@Yuuki FALCON POWUNCH!
Oh, for some reason, I thought it was shorthand for a stage name.
Oh no, FD is still the "base" map (which is dumb, battlefield makes way more sense imo)
@Helwar Competitive people are prone to getting very salty because they have honed their skills to be good at a very particular version of the game. And even the best competitive player is going to have issues in the other non-competitive ways to play the game. It threatens their impression of how good they are and they take it out on the other player/way of playing the game instead of just saying "I'm good at playing this way".
@Rubiksmoose Clearly, if I'm not good at something it is because that something is broken and garbage
@Helwar Up your game. Spore is a 100% accuracy sleep-inducing move.
15:15
@Yuuki I just liked Gengar. He's not able to produce spores :P
@GreySage This is absolutely untouchable logic.
haha
@Rubiksmoose I like theorycrafting competitive stuff but I don't really do a lot of actual competing.
@Rubiksmoose Ask the best pokemon VGC player to speedrun the game. Goodluck lol. There are MANY different ways to "be good" at a game
I dunno people made me hate the "competitive" side of things. Like... I enjoyed LoL when it was small and people played it like it was a game. When they made the three ninjas (i just remember the small one with lightning powers) I noticed I was more worried about performance than fun, and I was tired of being yelled at...
so I stopped playing
15:17
@DavidCoffron I feel like even the best VGC player would know not to attempt building a competitive-viable to complete the singleplayer game.
Granted, they might not know how and where to glitch stuff to sequence break.
@Yuuki I'm kind of in a weird place. I don't have the patience (or memory honestly) to learn matchups and invincibility frames but I am somewhat ok at the game. Enough to where I have a hope of kind of competing but never actually do well.
But the time-honored "pour all of my resources into one Pokemon and give them four big-power attacking moves" strategy is probably the easiest way to viably speedrun.
@Rubiksmoose you are like me then. I actually won a small tournament here in Barcelona years ago
@Yuuki Unfortunately not quite. Many speedruns require using moves like swords dance and battle items at the right time (when the enemy pokemon won't one-shot your under-levelled starter) to get enough power to sweep
Just by instinct rather than knowing exactly all the character moves and priorities and inmunity frames and all that jazz
15:20
E3, stop showing me clips of Norman Reedus and the Funky Fetus.
1:45 is apparently the best time for Red/Blue.
Dear Mr. Kojima. I have additional questions. Like every year. For the last few years.
@Helwar You are likely better than me then. I could barely get through a few rounds. I honestly think my brain is just not wired for quick reaction times.
@Yuuki My coworker defines it as "a game about UPS messengers high on LSD"
I rebooted my computer and lost all my Chrome tabs. Now I don't know what to do with myself
15:23
@Rubiksmoose enfasis on the "small" part of small tournament :P I don't think I'd do good against actual pros
@GreySage ctrl+shit+T
at infinitum
Though Any% No save corruption is 11min47sec lol. (Glitches involved I assume)
@Helwar Maybe it's not really a game but a bunch of people in mocap suits in a green-screen studio trying their best to bring to life Kojima's most intense LSD trips.
My theory is that it's not a game and will just be released in small confusing video clips at E3 from now until he dies.
15:41
@Rubiksmoose Scientific method says your theory is probably true. Is the one that has less contradictions
actual RPG question now
on another question, someone comments that Dragonborn have been in 3 consecutive editions now
didn't they start in 4e??? What edition did I miss?
I could've sworn they were in some 3.5e splatbook.
> You might want to look into the "Dragonborn of Bahamut" in Races of the Dragons. You start as a regular character, and hear a call from Bahamut (usually around adolescence) and are asked if they want to devote their life to her. If they accept, then they construct a ritualistic egg and sleep in it for a night. Afterwards, they emerge as a Dragonborn.

For stats, a lot of your racial bonuses and features change. Ant classes you have remain the same. You can choose to get stuff like wings or a breath attack, and the book includes Dragonborn specific feats you can take.
oh
splats
too many to count and manage
I discovered recently that there were sex-roleplaying splats. A friend of mine comented on a whole section about intercourse with ghosts O_o
@Helwar Of course there are
15:57
@GreySage I don't see why there would be haha. Sex is one of those things I wouldn't try to place rules around. Let their imagination free :P
@Helwar Each group does their own thing. For some, that involves "black-boxing" everything from "start flirting" and a few diplomacy/luck rolls, for others that involves detailing everything, of others that presumably involves both detailing and rolling some dice. There are also systems for some of that stuff (both subsystems for e.g. D&D, and whole systems that shall not be named)
16:36
as long as nobody goes full FATAL (...I've never played it, just heard rumors)
@V2Blast I've taken the plunge before. It is as bad as people say
Good Smash stuff
why does SE seem to keep going down right now?
(and why does chat seem unaffected? different tech stack?)
We are aware of intermittent errors being throwing by the entire Stack Exchange network. We are investigating now.
@V2Blast Different servers definitely
^^ They likely have to hit the same databases in the backend, but very, very little of the functionality would be tied together. If they weren't running on separate apps it'd be worrying.
16:52
makes sense
17:10
New Pathfinder Character Concept: Kineticist that uses finger-guns to shoot blasts. Pretends to be a wild west gunslinger with lightning bolts or fireballs or icicles or something
If air's the element they get a defense that gives ranged attacks against them miss chance, so you get the added bonus of finger-gunning arrows out of the air as they fly at you
@Delioth pew pew
Issue: I always have too many ideas for kineticists but not enough time to play all of them (most super-heroes are Kineticists or kineticist multiclasses if they aren't just fighters)
@Delioth GM a campaign, make all the kineticists you want, have them fight against the PCs
@MikeQ I do normally include a bunch of NPC Kineticists. Elementals with Kineticist levels are a great compliment to normal elementals (some e.g. Huge Earth Elementals that are solid frontliners, with just Large or normal Elementals with some kineticist levels for utility (entangle, walls, etc) and ranged damage)
Dragon-blooded kobolds are really neat with Kineticist levels (especially if you ignore some of the restrictions - a kobold with 2 levels of Kineticist can have a small cone of whatever their element is, or using some really solid 3pp it can be more like a drake's ranged burst)
@Delioth Kineticist gestalt campaign.
Everyone plays whatever class they wanted to on top of getting Kineticist levels.
17:24
Yeah, I was just thinking about that. I might also look into finding a gestalt campaign on roll20 and playing a kineticist there. Kineticist//Barbarian is especially neat
17:36
@Helwar sounds like a beer and pretzels game ...
18:02

Q: I was told to not correct misconceptions in the question comments, what should I do instead?

HellSaintSometimes, the asker includes misconceptions in their question. The most recent example is here, where OP assumes the Barbarian resistances from rage only work for non-magical effects. In these questions, we usually get a comment in the question saying "Hey bro, that's not how that rule works" f...

great
I wonder how they are going to do the thing, given that there's no physical action to do magic
Even the Force has arm-waving and face-grunting
@SPavel Easy. You just change the entire thing so it does and so it is not at all like the source material.
:P
@Rubiksmoose I'd also be down with cutting out all the casters
Just Mat & Perrin's Excellent Adventure
18:39
@BESW I was wondering what I should cook and not having any awesome inspiration immediately. I thought of trying IBM Chef Watson once more, which never convinced me but has a huge amount of strange dishes and might have something interesting, but it seems to be down. So I ordered the Tassajara Cookbook and I'm still none the wiser what to do.
@Anaphory What manner of food do you wish to concoct
Presumably, "edible" is at the top of the list of features.
Edible, tasty, warm, vegetarian. Preferably out of my comfort zone of pasta-with-sauce, rice-with-curry, casserole bake, stew. Involving a subset of cauliflower, banana, green bell pepper, carrots, red radishes, red bell pepper, leek, onions, eggs, apples, lentils, white beans.
Stew covers a lot of things.
I'm fine with strange things that might be stew. I don't want to sautee onions, leek, carrots, add boullion, add potatoes, cauliflower and peppers and end up with an average middle-European stew.
(Carbohydrates, spices and herbs are available.)
18:56
@Anaphory Pasta, Rice, Casserole and Stew cover a very large segment of edible food. Maybe you could bake a loaf?
@Anaphory No potato? :(
If you have bread (ideally rye bread) I like to fry rounds of red bell pepper with an egg in the middle, and eat that on a sandwich
@SPavel Falls under carbs in my mental category, so yes, there are potatos. And rice, and various types of pasta, and oats, and quinoa, and rye bread.
In that case, potato croquette
General Tso's Cauliflower also very successful as a dish
Stuffed peppers are nice (though typically one would stuff with ground beef, you could do ones with rice and diced carrots, onions, etc)
You could stir-fry pretty much any vegetable.
There's always the option of taco-bowls. Beans, peppers, onions. Corn, lettuce, rice (or Quinoa)
19:00
We do stir-fried leek and eggs a lot and it tastes great.
hey there @Anaphory and @Yuuki
Hello.
how're things going?
E3's a bit of a mixed bag.
@SPavel I shall try to make General Tso's cauliflower tonight, and keep the other ideas for the next few days. (I had contemplated stuffed peppers, but there is one of each, and I felt like using the green one with a banana at some point for no reason transparent to my conscious thought; I don't have taco bowls and should get some; I feel like making something big and strange, which takes out pepper-eggs-on-bread and stuff.)
Thanks everyone!
19:06
Banana is good for baking
But give it a few days so it goes brown and squishy
You can also make ramelette
> Take a pack of ramen and cook the noodles. While they're cooking, whisk together two eggs and the seasoning packet (you'll have a devil of a time getting it to whisk in but it will). In a nonstick skillet, melt ~1 tbsp butter and give the noodles a quick saute. Pour egg mixture over the noodles and let cook without stirring for a minute or two while you top with shredded cheese. Throw the skillet under the broiler until the cheese browns. The egg underneath will have cooked.

It's a ramen omelette. A ramlette.
19:20
Change of plans. There was aspargus (white) left in the fridge I forgot about, so it's dinner's roasted aspargus with herbs, pancakes and a lemon-mustard sauce.
White asparagus is so annoying, with the peeling
@Yuuki Oh are you there?
@Rubiksmoose Nope, just been watching it.
I'd never go to E3, tbh. It's more of an industry thing from what I've heard.
I thought they banned non-press from attending like 15 years ago
@Yuuki Ah ok. Me too obviously.
@SPavel I believe last year or the year before they opened it up.
19:30
Both eagles majestically present at tv.eenet.ee/merikotkas.html
They fixed the camera?
I guess one is baby eaglet but he looks the same as parent eagle
They fixed the camera!
I also have mixed feelings. I was hoping to see more stuff from Nintendo honestly. Even "just" something about Metroid or Pokemon 2019.
I don't think Nintendo's done a wide info dump at E3 in awhile.
Even last E3, it was just all about Breath of the Wild.
They just do deep dives into one or two games because they have their own Directs to generate hype.

Smash checked off almost all the boxes for me. A few new fighters and maybe talking about 1 player mode (or lack thereof) would have been the only things to improve there.
But obviously they are going to spread that out since there is still a while before launch.
@Yuuki I mean sure, but they also took the time last year to tease Metroid.
Last year was also trying to build hype for the Switch too, right?
@Yuuki Yeah. I believe they also spent some time on 3DS but I could be misremembering there.
I am pretty excited for Overcooked 2 as well actually. The first game has been a blast so far (and we haven't managed to beat it yet).
I like it but I'm probably not going to get it because I don't have anyone to couch co-op with.
@Yuuki Ah yeah it definitely is best face-to-face. It is a blast at parties.
@Rubiksmoose Of course it's best face-to-face, there's no other way to play the game.
As in the literal only option is local multiplayer.

@Yuuki Currently lol. 2 has online.
@Rubiksmoose Oh, it does?
@Yuuki Yup.
Hmm...
Theory: Kojima decided to take a bunch of shrooms a year or so back and when he came to, Death Stranding was already complete. Since then, he's been releasing small clips to try to get everyone to figure out the story for him.
@Yuuki hahaha. I think this is my new favorite theory.
Smash Bros., Elder Scrolls, and KH3 are the highlights so far for me

I feel like I just physically can't get hyped by Kingdom Hearts anymore.
Even knowing that they finally collated all of the various and disparate spin-offs into a single game on the same platform that KH3 will be released on doesn't help.
I love Disney stuff and I really enjoyed the first two and even Chain of Memories but the narrative had been spread out on so many different platforms for so long that I'm just tired of the story now.
Also "oh hey, Elsa's super popular so we need to make her plot-relevant but we already assigned all the spots for the Princesses of Heart so let's make up something completely new and let's call it 'Pure Light'."
Yeah I have a friend that still loves KH. I've never gotten to play it for any significant time. So I am still interested. Though I still don't have the right system lol.
@Yuuki Are you surprised? That is like pure Disney marketing strategy
