What sort of military unit might be stationed around that area (or could reasonably be explained via backstory why he comes to the area)? And what sort of thing may have drawn him into the adventure?
(We're starting at level 1.)"

I wrote a long thing about how he used to be an officer in the Tymanther military, described his participation in some historical battles, then said he started traveling and joined the Order of the Gauntlet

and tied into one of the adventure hooks

Felt a little less "explorey" and a little more linear, as sorta makes sense when you've found a trail and are following it (this week) more than casting about for clues/orientation (last week). Shalv's here--I'd be curious to hear his answer, too.
