@GreySage I'm a completionist. I'll cop to it.

Q: Is there a spell area of effect sizes write up?

TrismegistusI am working on A D20 Mod for a homebrew campaign setting. At the moment I'm working on the magic. The SRD has a breakdown of the spell ranges... Close Range: 25 feet +5 per caster level. Medium Range: 100 feet + 10 per caster level. Long Range: 400 feet + 40 per caster level. What I'm seekin...

I'm wondering if this question would be more useful/less convoluted if it simply asked "what are AoE spell sizes, akin to this table of spell ranges?" Then if there exists a canonical writeup answerers can point to it, but if not they can provide a well-researched/supported one of their own. I'm no 3.5 expert, though, so wonder what some of those experts think of the formulation. — nitsua60 ♦ 4 mins ago
3.5ers? ^^

@Shalvenay Hi, if you are still there!

@Anaphory yup, how're things going?

Good! Quiet day, getting small amounts done. Much hobby-organizing.
Like organizing my RPG group, poking various friends abouts visits, poking my game society's committee about some future events.

trying to find solutions to small-parts-wrangling here

@nitsua60 not...enough...compartments!

Two of the 32-compartment drawers doesn't don't doen't suffice? What're you sorting?

@nitsua60 electronics parts!
@nitsua60 although, are you saying you can get a single drawer on one of those to have 32 compartments in it?

Yes.

is that for the 11" or the 17" deep drawers?

6:33 PM
So, for instance, you could buy this: mcmaster.com/#5158t31/=190xhob

@nitsua60 your link doesn't point to a specific SKU

(edited)
And then put two of these into it: mcmaster.com/#5158t3/=190xhup

@nitsua60 that's actually an awfully small number of compartments for a drawer that size
let me put it this way, I'm looking at 27 10" wide by 12" deep drawers, many of them w/ 45 compartments

@Shalvenay It's good when you're dealing with the parts in bulk. A package of 100 spade-connectors, a package of a few dozen jumpers, a box of 100 4-40 KEPS nuts....

@nitsua60 you have obviously never had to deal with a few decades of E24 resistor values, never mind E96 :P

6:36 PM
I'm usually dealing with a smaller variety of parts in larger number, it seems, than perhaps you are.

@nitsua60 no kidding
electronics folks have it the worst when it comes to small parts challenges

Even in my electronics-work, though, I'm looking at fifty or sixty different items, but usually buying/consuming them 50 or 100 at a time.

@nitsua60 yeah, you aren't trying to keep a lab stock for breadboarding :)

hey there @Papayaman1000 and @Anaphory

Still hey!

how're things going?

Digging through org-mode exporter code, it's interesting.

@BESW Clearly that person has never had children, nor been responsible for others' children long enough, such that they'd be exposed to the average child's drawing.

10:40 PM
Sorry for the two minutes of downtime just now. All is well again.
