Ben
12:27 AM
I present to you... a situation:
After a successfully defended retreat (so proud of my ragtag band of townsfolk militia), against a full-blown army of the dead, it turns out that two NPCs actually had the ability to turn into dragons.
Now, the DM has dropped "need to look up rules for Aerial Combat", which hints that the party will be fighting off the back of theses dragons, against a Dracolich and a very powerful Sorcerer

@Ben hrm....
are we talking air-to-ground or air-to-air?

@Ben Luckily(?) there are no rules for aerial combat.

Ben
So, following the "Rule of cool"... how likely is this situation:
Without being eaten, that is
@Shalvenay Air to air

@Ben If you can get the dragon to trigger Sentinel, it'd work.

@Ben oooh :D time to study up on air combat maneuvering ;)

Ben
12:33 AM
@Miniman Oooh!
Yes

@Ben on a scale of 1 to 10, it's at 11. if you've got someone with an axe who could jump onto a dragon, of course it will happen.
the dragon would practically have to defy cosmic forces to not have someone leap at them.

@Ben 20d6 may not kill a dragon, of course.

Ben
@doppelgreener I have a greatsword with magical capacity, apparently

@Ben Tasha's Hideous Laughter for style points - "I killed a dragon with a knock-knock joke" should be good for a lot of free drinks.
2

@Miniman "Knock knock" "Who's there?" "S-75" "S-75 who?" "S-75 boom!"
(referring to the ol' S-75 Dvina aka SA-2 "Guideline")

12:36 AM
there's a scene in Advent Children where a dragon flies up into the sky, prepared to fire off a beam that would level a city, so people get the guy with the sword and hurtle him up the side of a skyscraper by hand so he can reach it and take it down

Ben
"Knock, knock"
"Who's there?"
[Rain of screaming barbarians to the theme of "It's raining men"]

and by that i mean they rush to different heights along the skyscraper and hurtle him upwards by hand until he's just about breaking the sound barrier

Ben
lol
So this greatsword - quite like it. The initial concept was that it is simply a greatsword made for the PC - a Human living with Dwarves - that was re-forged from 5 dwarven blades. It was named "Hrunuus Tallomirfiv" which translates to "One blade forged from five"
However, the DM decided to go with "each blade has it's own story", and I was granted a magical attack - Earthen Hammer, which was awoken from one of the 5 blades used to make the greatsword

aw yes

Ben
So, I might not be able to kill the dragon itself, but I can fight the Sorcerer.
(Cue the epic falling QTE)
Lol
I did have one situation in a previous game, similar to this. My character was a melee fighter, and we were one a carriage, being pursued by a very large beast.
I was nest to useless standing on the carriage, so I figured, "Bugger it, I'm jumping"
Rule of cool - giant leap at the beast, lodged a sword in it's back to stop myself from falling, and then ripped two gouges out of it's back

12:56 AM
that is good decision making
i like this game you're playing in. :D

1:14 AM
I think I found a Honey Heist re-skin:
Just witnessed this giant seal being chased out the door of a fishmongers shop in Wicklow town.

1:38 AM
hey there @nitsua60

Ben
Good day also @Ash

1:50 AM
@Shalvenay hiya
Happy Thanksgiving.

@nitsua60 what's up?
and thx, happy thanksgiving to you as well

Ben
Happy Friday guys! :P

@Ben For some of us =(
=)
@Shalvenay Saturday: trying out a Star Wars RPG =)

Ben
Timezones.... The bane of us all

@nitsua60 ah, nice. github.com/schacon/cowsay/blob/master/cows/flaming-sheep.cow got stuck in my head for some reason over here. might have something to do with fire-druids summoning stampedes of flaming greenbound nitusas :P

Ben
1:57 AM
You see a dragon. Do you -
A) Climb up high and leap off, yelling a warcry, with the intent to kill
B) Flip them off
C) Ride it like a the badass you are

@Ben D) scramble into the nearest fighter jet, take off, and show it who really owns the skies ;)
although I'm more partial to C) with a follow-on of getting the big fella properly equipped :D

@Shalvenay E) scramble toward the nearest fighter jet, go down under a hail of fire unleashed by MPs tasked with keeping yahoos like me away from their equipment =|

@nitsua60 :p

Ben
Trick question! You do all 3! In the order of B, A then C. Because let's face it, option A isn't going to fell a dragon, so you're better off lodging your weapon in it's neck as a set of make-shift reigns and forcing it to crash

@Ben you're probably better off making it tailgate an A380 at low altitude than trying to force it to crash directly, lulz

2:02 AM
@Ben What do you call a cow with no legs?

@nitsua60 Beef?

Ground beef!

Ben
@nitsua60 Udderly ridiculous?

Why should you never tell a cow a secret?

Ben
[Another pun about cows]?

2:04 AM
Yes! It goes in one ear and out the udder!
What do you say to a mosquito on a snowman?

Ben
Nailed it XD

@nitsua60 Ice to meet you?

"Watch out for frostbite!"
What do you say to a mosquito on a mummy?

@nitsua60 Better put a bandage on when you're done?

Ben
2:06 AM
Something about sucking them dry?

> As the light changed from red to green to yellow and back to red again, I sat there thinking about life. Was it nothing more than a bunch of honking and yelling? Sometimes it seemed that way.
-Jack Handey
And then there's one for @doppelgreener:

hey there @Keep_On_Cruising

Ben
@nitsua60 Lol

Could someone help me with this question math.stackexchange.com/questions/2534625/… ?
have to submit it son

Ben
2:13 AM
You might be in the wrong place for that

 Mathematics

Associated with Math.SE; for both general discussion & math qu...

Ben
We may be nerds, but we're all RPG nerds haha.

@Ben Hey, don't limit our nerddom :P

Ben
@Miniman No, that's true. My b haha
I just didn't want to deliver false hope

2:17 AM
@Keep_On_Cruising It looks like you're saying sin(y)-sin(x)=N; why isn't it cos(y)[sin(y)_sin(x)]=N, rather?

@nitsua60 Hi, I used cos(y)[sin(y)_sin(x)]=N

@Keep_On_Cruising (sorry--cross-posting. I'm over in Math now.)

Ben
So...
Dice n stuff... am I right?

@Ben Was playing around in my head earlier today with replacing my kids' Monopoly set's 2d6 with a d12 =)

Ben
Doesn't that completely change the average roll?

2:25 AM
@Ben by 0.5
It gives you a 1 result, and significantly changes the distribution.
Makes it hard to roll doubles =)

Ben
Ah right-o. Not such a biggie then

hey there @Asteria

Ben
Woo! Level 7!
Furthest I've been in terms of PC development

@Ben game?

Ben
D&D 5e
Fighter - Battle Master

2:37 AM
So 7 gets you... indomitable for the first time?

Ben
I get to choose 2 new Manoeuvres, and "Know your enemy"
> if you spend at least 1 minute observing or interacting with another creature outside combat, you can learn certain information about its capabilities compared to your own. The DM tells you if the creature is your equal, superior, or inferior in regard
to two of the following characteristics of your choice:
Strength score
Dexterity score
Constitution score
Armor Class
Current hit points
Total class leveIs (if any)
Fighter class leveIs (if any)

Oh, dear. Know your enemy.

@nitsua60 what's wrong with it? :P

@Shalvenay The only useful option is AC.

I've played a couple of Battle Masters and GMed for them, and never found a use for Know Your Enemy.
Except as a way to say, as a GM, "well, I shouldn't really tell you that, because it's another class's feature to spend a minute studying to learn that."

2:41 AM
Oh, I forgot about the "1 minute out of combat" bit. Never mind, that's useless.

But there are a bunch of classes that have at least one clunker somewhere in the 6-11 range.

@Ben yeah, cook separately, assemble afterwards

Ben
[Stands on the back of the dragon, glaring at the Darcolich]
"Uhh... what are you doing?"
"SHH! Need to focus"
Question - is there any way that I can ensure I won't fall off a dragon in midflight? Like, some kind of "Suction boots" spell?

3:14 AM
hey there @spade

@Ben Spider climb would arguably work.

Ben
@Miniman What class/level have access to this spell?
WE have a ranger and a Warlock - both level 7

@Ben shouldn't they both be able to use scrolls?

Ben
@Shalvenay The first thing they'd need are the scrolls.

@Ben that is a point -- no magic shoppe in town to pick them up at I reckon?

Ben
3:17 AM
In this situation however, the PCs have just levelled up - immediately after being scooped up and flown into the air on a couple of dragons

@Ben 2nd-level, warlocks have access.

Ben
So we can't exactly stop off for a moment of shopping
@Miniman A plan hatches...
If I can convince the Ranger to use Jumping, and the Warlock to give me Spider Climb, then this fight can be over real fast

@Ben Oh?

Ben
My PC is a pretty tank-y Fighter with a Greatsword.
The enemy is another Warlock - the Glass Cannon.
While this pursuit is mid-air, on dragon back, knocking the Warlock out of commission will *definitely* tip the scales in our favour

@Ben Fair warning - warlocks are really good at shoving people around.

Ben
3:29 AM
@Miniman True
Slightly different situation - I had a game of Numenera that was a Magneto x Wolverine fight. An Aeon Priest with the ability to control metals, vs a Cyborg

Ben
3:42 AM
Got tossed about like a ragdoll multiple times XD
I done a naughty. I answered this question

Ben
4:33 AM
Can I react to a reaction?
in 5e

@Ben Depends on the reactions involved, but there's no general rule preventing it.

Ben
@Miniman So, Sentinel/Opportunity attack?

@Ben Yep, that should work.

Ben
And, you can only get one reaction per round anyway - so if some one already got an opportunity attack, they can't get another

@Ben Barring some very specific exceptions, yeah.

Ben
4:39 AM
Dracolich CR: Same as base creature +1
What?

@Ben ?

Ben
Well, basically jumping at the business end of a dracolich is going to end pretty much the exact same way as it did in Reign Of Fire... lol. Apparently this such beastie has multi-attack, meaning that it can wipe out a 7th level PC in one round

If you mean why CR +1, it's because of Magic Resistance + condition immunities.
@Ben I mean, the weakest possible dracolich would be CR 14.

Ben
Phwaor... yeah fair enough

5:02 AM
The beautiful collared lizard is endemic to Mexico & the southern United States.
Glow in the Dark is available! This is my first book and I'm super excited. It's a Blades in the Dark-powered game for playing post-apocalyptic tribes vying for resources. It has fast cars, power armor, talking apes, and mutant bugs. #glowinthedarkrpg https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/223216/Glow-in-the-Dark

3 hours later…
8:03 AM
So .. a heavy crossbow has a ROF of 1/2 .. does that mean an un-readied PC would spend the first round loading and only get to attack in the 2nd round?

1 hour later…
9:27 AM
@Erics what game?

generally, on the understanding that the low rate of fire is due to loading time, not firing time. but adnd various

1 hour later…
10:53 AM
Lo, the greener is green again!

it is!
@Erics that would make for a good mainsite question.

11:06 AM
@doppelgreener What's up?

@kviiri Just cast my vote in an Australian election from our embassy in London. So that was interesting!
(it was nice hearing the Australian accent from so many people again)

Hah, nice :D

I am certified 100% not explosive

@doppelgreener Uh oh...is there an election and I missed it?

@Miniman Only in Queensland

11:11 AM
@doppelgreener Ah, right.

So it's like a regional parliament?

@kviiri State government elections, basically

Ok, cool
We have the presidential election next year, but campaigning has been rather slow. The incumbent prez is likely to be re-elected.

It's superficially the same arrangement as the USA: one country, multiple states each with their own independent government, one federal government, and the state vs federal governments take on local and country-wide issues as appropriate. (Basic example being: the states maintain their roads as normal, but the federal government maintains all interstate highways.)
Only, without issues around huge emphasis on state independence -- the federal government's a useful tool pretty much most people are happy with existing, even if they might not be happy with who's running it.

We have municipal council elections every 4 years, parliamentary every 4 years, presidential every 6 years and European Parliament every 5 years. And next year, there'll be regional elections for the first time as well
When I was kid I thought it was stupid how the most concretely important elections (municipal and EuroParliament) had worse turnouts than the mostly-ceremonial President's election. These days I ascribe a bit more value to figureheads I guess :)

11:28 AM
@kviiri I think one problem is often that municipal governments are not particularly visible unless they mess something up. I don't think I could tell you any policies my municipal government has enacted in the last decade.

@ACuriousMind I'm not sure how it goes here in Finland, either, outside my own little urban bubble where everyone is super into the little details of urban planning :P
I can imagine things getting a bit more personal in the smaller municipalities...

@kviiri that sounds like a lot! Australians usually only have to worry about state & federal elections.

It is a lot, yep. I don't really mind the current level, but I'm a bit confused about the need for regional elections as well.

@kviiri personally i think one of the strengths of the Australian voting systems is that they're mandatory. (In fact, the recent vote on same-sex marriage which you might've heard about, was quite unusual in that it was optional. I'm relieved we still had such a high turnout.)

@doppelgreener Mandatory voting sounds interesting in principle, but isn't there a possibility that people just cast their ballots randomly?

11:36 AM
@doppelgreener What's the punishment for not voting?

With voting attendance always being >90% we're left feeling like we did all we could, so the result we got is reasonably OK. Compare to the USA where after every election, one side is grumbling that if only more people had voted, they would've won (or won by more).

US has the first-past-the-post system which isn't exactly enticing people to vote I guess.
Getting gerrymandered into a district where one is clearly in a minority or somesuch.

@ACuriousMind We get fined somewhere in the range of $20-125 depending on what the election was.
You could pay a $20 fine to skip out on the federal election, but almost nobody does.

We use the D'Hondt method for municipal and parliamentary elections. It takes into account both the individual support of a candidate as well as their party's (or alliance's) support.

@doppelgreener I find the effect of small fines on voting behaviour quite funny: You're essentially saying voting is a less-important civic duty than almost any other since most fines are higher, and yet it compels a substantial proportion of the population to vote that wouldn't otherwise.

11:43 AM
@ACuriousMind yeah, i agree :)

I guess it reveals that many non-voters really just don't care instead of having any actual reason for not voting.

There's a theory in civil law: Suppose you want someone to not do something bad (whether that be "not vote", or "rob a bank", or "drive over the speed limit"). The size of the punishment has almost no effect on dissuading something from doing that thing. Instead, their perception of how likely they are to be caught out for it, is what will dissuade them from doing that thing.

In D'Hondt the one receiving most votes in a party gets all the votes for the party, the one who comes after gets half of the party's votes, etc. The people receiving the most "votes" after the procedure are elected. Basically, it means a single popular candidate in an otherwise unpopular party can pull other members of their party in, but also reduces "wasted votes" to a great degree.

Since if you have a good reason, paying 20 bucks to still be true to that reason seems like a good deal

@doppelgreener I wish people legislating the penalties would understand this :)

11:45 AM
In other words, a 100% chance of a $20 fine (not voting) is more effective than a 5% chance of a $500 fine (speeding) simply because of the chance of being caught out.
@kviiri Same, yeah.

@doppelgreener Worryingly, the logical consequence is that to curb illegal behaviour of all kinds you must increase surveillance as far as possible, since that's what increases to chance of being caught.

Well, there's always the option to better the world in ways that make crime seem less appealing, or reduce the impact of crime when it happens.
But that's not as trivially effective.

@kviiri Sure, the best of all possible worlds is the world where no one feels the need to commit crimes :)
But...well...just look at what we've got to work with :P

@ACuriousMind You can increase surveillance, but you can also just make various crimes extremely difficult to conduct unnoticed. For example, bank robberies don't tend to happen not because of increased surveillance, but because they take so long to perform that by the time you're done the police have already arrived, so people don't bother.

11:50 AM
@ACuriousMind Well, there are countries where social spending and second chances are doing their work. Not without problems, but the course is right

@ACuriousMind I think that is also a factor in Australia: poverty drives people toward crime, and Australia has a lot of social welfare present as safety nets for people falling on hard times, therefore one of our major potential sources of crime is avoided.

Snufkin sounds really weird in English. He has this rather deep voice in Finnish.

@kviiri Indeed, and I fully support that.

12:16 PM
@doppelgreener do I need to ask a meta question to fix a few tags via aliasing?

12:38 PM
@Trish please do! if there's any tagging issues to be sorted out, meta is the way to go.

the one was a mistake I could fix easily: slap in e to the end of exalted... (because... I messed that up some time ago). I can'T ind the Margaret Weiss Marvel tag though... that was forgotten in the "we got longer tags" update

that was marvel-heroic, wasn't it?
to marvel-heroic-roleplaying?

yep
the / thing was just 10 in total... aliasing the non-e ones to / might be in order though

@Trish Can you create tag wikis for them while at it? :)

@kviiri for Exalted I did actually - it's in the "approve please" loop

12:45 PM
btw, part of the reason i suggest bringing it to meta (rather than suggesting to just mention them here) is because it's hugely preferable that chat doesn't become a platform for site administration -- that's firmly the role of meta. if chat gets used for site administration, then the site becomes run by a small number of chatizens, effectively behind closed doors. everyone interested in site maintenance keeps an eye on meta though.

yep

(there was a point a few years ago where some site maintenance was being done via chat, and it frustrated other active regulars who either did not use chat or simply were not in it at the time.)

Meta is the good transparent way to do things.

also, minor benefit, we get a searchable question on meta pointing to when the change was made and what change happened.

What does a red dot next to one of the review queues mean?

12:49 PM
Urgent I guess

@Szega an unusually high number of items are present, or some have been left waiting longer than they should be -- tend to that queue first.

@doppelgreener I see. However when I clicked it, it was empty. I had to go to all reviews to see any items there.

@Szega the review queues sometimes have caching issues; maybe someone cleared them between the time you loaded the page & clicked the link.

@doppelgreener I still saw them through all reviews, and could actually vote on them. Also, the review box reloads when you click it afaik.

Q: Tag updates: Exalted / Marvel Heroic Roleplaying

TrishFirst of all, a side note: the How should we revise the tags for the different Exalted editions? was fixed from exalted-2/exalted-3 to the more site-streamlined exalted-2e/exalted-3e and added with wikis. Now, there was a tag that was forgotten in the longer names update: marvel-heroic for the M...

@Szega ok, i have no idea. review queues have a bit of weirdness to them @_@ If you see it again, mention it on meta as a bug report?
@Trish Thanks! I'll leave it to sit just for a bit, then probably act on it.

@doppelgreener aye, also: split of the thing... and gave you your 15 for the answer I forgot ages ago

@doppelgreener Do I report it on rpg meta or is there a separate place for these?

1:09 PM
@Szega bug reports can go to either our meta or to Meta Stack Exchange
i've checked with stack exchange devs, and they'll see bug reports just the same whichever one you post them to.

@doppelgreener Thanks.

2:03 PM
New sport inspirations for your fantasy worlds.

@Shalvenay howdy @Shalvenay, sorry I missed you
@doppelgreener i'm up for a good game of multiplayer avocado

@NautArch I thought you'd prefer a good game of Consequence Archery...

@NautArch given the nature of a fantasy setting, i imagine that's not only quite possible but that these sports are among the most ordinary available in the setting

@Trish naut I :D
@doppelgreener Hell Escape is pretty regular

@NautArch tinkerball is an extremely controversial one

2:11 PM
@doppelgreener that seems like a game played in Hell before the escape

@doppelgreener how dare you shame snakes
XD

2:32 PM
@trogdor i don't take part in that sport!

2 hours later…
4:08 PM
@doppelgreener Owlstuffing sounds fun

@GreySage less so for the owl
but lavaball i could totally see happening in a dwarf city, or an elemental city, or both with both cultures having histories asserting they're the ones that came up with it.
.... or both having histories suggesting this crazy sport was the other culture's idea, don't blame us, we're just doing what they were doing?

I can see Merfishing being a point of some contention between surface societies and underwater ones
"You killed my father!" "Sorry, but he was worth 50 points. I even got him mounted."

@GreySage If Inigo Montoya were a merman, The Princess Bride would have been quite interesting in altogether another way.

1 hour later…
5:47 PM
@ACuriousMind I've subscribed to my town's meeting minutes, so now I get planning&zoning, board of finance, school board, sewer commission, town council, and fire/safety, at least a couple a week come in. Five minutes to scan it over and suddenly I'm 'in the know!'

@nitsua60 but what about the vampire commission?
are they not taking minutes?

6:02 PM
@doppelgreener I unsubscribed. Too many bloody sets of minutes.

if there's one thing i always hated about town meeting minutes...it's the goddamned vampires

@nitsua60 haaaaa, vampire wordplay

Q: Do wands prompt attacks of opportunity?

Jhyarelle SilverIn combat, are wands like ranged weapons and susceptible to attacks of opportunity? And Can you use the similar ranged feats to avoid attacks of opportunity, if not are there any? Just wandering.

THIS PUN.
I CAN'T HANDLE IT
it's cracking me up and i hate it and it's perfect
no judgement on the question itself, just the pun

i want to upvote for the pun alone

hey there @NautArch

6:37 PM
hey as well @kviiri

howdy howdy @Shalvenay. Have a good thanksgiving?

yeah, things are going well over here, as for you?

7:13 PM
@Shalvenay Hello!

@kviiri what's up?

@Shalvenay good - had a yummy thanksgiving, but it ended for me at 6pm when i got a migraine. and house full of guests.

@Shalvenay Went to see my parents, now I'm on the bus towards our block pikkujoulu party

@NautArch awww :/
@kviiri ah

Basically some casual pre-Christmas festivities with my neighbors :)
How about you?

7:15 PM
@kviiri is that early? Just reading about it now.
@Shalvenay yeah, but at least i got 13 hours of sleep from it :)
and my ham came out pretty awesome. Made a pineapple/rootbeer/honey glaze for it

@kviiri doing alright here
@NautArch nice

just have to make a soup from the turkey carcass. But mostly i just like saying/typing carcass.

@NautArch Typically the season is in late November to early December, it's not wildly off at least
One of the companies I've worked in used to have it in February because they were too busy to have it in time one year and had to postpone, so they kept postponing it as a tradition :)

8:20 PM
hey there @Zachiel

heya
how's the dungeon?

which one? the 3.5e one we've been running through? I have some time to pick it up now albeit no headset with me (so no voice, just text)
hey @eimyr

Hi!
whaddup!

how're things going?

I finally have the time to actually talk.

8:32 PM
@Shalvenay text is fine

good, good, I made a Fate conversion for Mage Ascension, finally, with help from Greener, BESW and other chatizens
you?

not a whole lot, seeing if Zachiel's up for continuing a 3.5e dungeon run we've been working on; that, and we can talk in the NAB if you wish

@eimyr hooray

@Shalvenay why NAB? are there things you don't want to say in the main chat/

@eimyr Because he doesn't drink.

8:37 PM
@eimyr more like I want to not drown out the main chat :P

[he he he]

@nitsua60 hahaha

@Shalvenay sure, why not

main chat is quiet :) could use some good discussion...as i say before leaving :)

8:53 PM
good discussion? We have a Monolith flying out there. It has the size of 1 pixel.
A/2017 U1 is its name.

ah, yes, that random visitor asteroid :)

I propose it is a Monolith.

9:13 PM
Any of you have Nintendo Switch and Zelda Breath of the Wild for it?

9:34 PM
@Ryan I do
I'll be starting playing it this weekend

Man, Black Friday sales are disappointing me.
I want to buy 8Gb of RAM for less than $80

@doppelgreener cool I'm not in a rush to get it but am thinking about it. Would like to know what you think of it. I haven't played Zelda since A Link to the Past but this new one looks so good I might buy Switch just to get it
like this new one looks like Skyrim level quality

@GreySage in electronics, I learned, only the items you wouldn't buy without a discount are discounted

@Ryan I'll let you know in a few days. :)

@doppelgreener sounds good! did you just get the Switch or had that for a while?

@eimyr When I bought my PC components 2 years ago there were a decent amount of sales, this year I haven't found anything
Hopefully Monday will have something

@GreySage lulz. there is no such thing as "Black Friday sales" when it comes to the things that I'm looking at ordering, haha

@Ryan Just got the switch a few weeks ago, and I've played Mario Odyssey almost all the way through. It's an absolute masterpiece of a game.
Here, good review of Mario Odyssey. :)

@doppelgreener really? I tried it in the store and didn't do much for me in the quick demo. Seemed like if I just shook the controller randomly he would auto kill every koopa in sight
I've yet to play any 3D version of mario beyond a demo

@Ryan killing the koopas is not the objective or the challenge or a primary source of fun

9:43 PM
ah I had no idea the objective or source of fun. the demo left a lot to be desired
miss the old days when stores would just put a full game on and let people play it. that got me to buy more games than demos ever have

@GreySage It varies depending on stock and what you're looking for. I'm happy to buy alternatives and substitutes but sometimes I see massive discounts on the precise items I wasn't even considering in the first place

Each of the worlds has its own objectives and a boss to find and defeat. The aim is to collect Moons to power your ship to reach new levels (think Super Mario World on the N64 with its stars) and to that end, there's a lot of exploration, discovery, and puzzles to solve. Most of the time if there's an enemy, they're easy enough to just bypass -- but possessing them (with the hat) may be part of gaining access to a puzzle, or solving the puzzle, or being able to explore new areas.
I haven't seen the demo so I can't profess to what it might've told you or left out, but the game is an absolute blast.

it had no instructions and told me nothing
just dumped me into the world basically

ooh, probably not a good way to start D:

@eimyr Right now I want to get another set of 2x4 Gb RAM to round out my 4 slots, but I want to get the same type as the first set to avoid any problems, which limits my options.

10:08 PM
@GreySage it might be more economical to grab a 4x4 set and sell your old one

10:20 PM
@eimyr I'm looking at some long term trends, and it looks like pretty much everything jumped in price around Christmas last year, and then October was the new low point and prices have climbed since then to now
What's with that?
Like, $45 to $93 jumped

@GreySage Christmas itself?

@Zachiel That would make sense for a temporary jump, but between October and January they went up, and then stayed there
They have been pretty stable all year long, just a LOT higher than before

@GreySage currency exchange rates, also technical problems at Foxconn and some other factories

@eimyr Apparently there is a supply problem in general, while demand is increasing. Smartphones are blamed according to several articles
At least Harddrives are still going down in price

10:41 PM
I knew about a problem with Sony factories and an earthquake in Japan, I don't know if the timinng aligns

Price are predicted to go down around mid-2018. Of course, they predicted that they would go down in mid-2017 too. The question I have to solve now is whether $20-$30 in savings is worth waiting for

@BESW Those things are freaky as hell diminutive... I might have trouble refraining from attacking a life-sized one.
