@BESW Huh. I know one of the entrants, and apparently he's a game designer now. Small world.

12:52 AM
I like the "super simple magic for Fate Core" (though I've never played, or even thoroughly read, Fate)

@Adeptus It's not bad, but I strongly disagree with some of its design assumptions re:Fate. Namely, that using one skill or approach all the time is "imbalancing."
(The whole point of DFRPG's magic system is that the magic skills can be used to mimic the effects of any other skill, often faster and more accurately, but at the cost of increased danger if you fail.)
That aside, it's definitely one of the easier ways to run magic: a magical aspect is permission to use skills when you normally couldn't, like using Shoot when you've got nothing to shoot with.
I just think they wasted some of their 200 words justifying something that doesn't need to be justified, and instead just looked a little silly.

3:20 AM
I didn't even know there was an Alien day

3:34 AM
@BESW have you had a chance to look over the Sunless Sea post? I think I'm just about ready to publish it.

4:26 AM
@Magician Looked great! I didn't read it with a proofreader's attention though.

Cool, thanks. I can mostly accomplish my own proofreading by re-reading stuff I wrote ten times over before posting :)

4:50 AM
Boom! Should show up in the ticker eventually.

5:00 AM
Woo! 10k!

@Adeptus Congratulations!

Grats!

Do we have something to flag question where the asker didn't do enough effort?

@Miniman @Magician Thanks!

If you hover over the downvote button, you can see the following text:
> This question does not show any research effort; it is unclear or not useful.

5:03 AM
ok
My headspace claimed there was another option
@Miniman Thanks for the clarification!

@Ahriman There's been a few metas about this, and the conclusion has always been that downvotes are where it's at.
@Ahriman No problem!

I admit to staying far away from Meta
Seems to be drama central

@Ahriman Lately that has been a thing, but it's not always.

@Miniman That may be so.
I do believe that I'm biased, as that when I was new, the role of Meta wasn't clear.
But by the time that it would become useful (due to increasing rep) it had become drama-lama-land.

We are the livestock of plants and trees, which feed us and give us air knowing that we will soon die and feed them.

Makes perfect sense.

lol
I really don't see a problem with this
I mean, they also do at least as much for us as we do for them
possibly even more, I doubt vegetation would die out if humanity no longer existed
especially considering they would still have other animals, especially the ones like birds
and other seed spreaders and pollinators

5:38 AM
plus, most of our effect on plants is actually selection pressure
we pick out plants we like and cultivate them on purpose, or over-harvest them by accident

i do not have a problem with this either
praise the arboreal overlords

I don't see them as overlords, just as co-evolution buddies XD

all hail the co-evolution buddy overlords

they selected for traits in us, and we did the same thing to many of them
you may bow down to them as overlords if you wish, I personally don't see a reason to at the moment
they haven't even demanded fealty yet
besides, I am much more scared of cats, plants bring life or death, but cats only bring death, sooo much death

6:06 AM
@trogdor That's a little unfair - some cats bring bad luck.

@Miniman death is a method of bad luck

@doppelgreener Bad luck is definitely a cause of death, but I'm not sure what you're saying.

@Miniman if all cats bring death they are also bringing bad luck

@doppelgreener I hate to sound grim, but death is not always a bad thing.

@BESW i read this as "limited edition zenomorph plague" at first and was like "why would you want to buy a plague, this sounds like a good joke"
@Miniman ok yes i was pointedly not going there :P

6:31 AM
@Miniman bad luck certainly isn't better than death
so I don't see how that is "unfair" :P
just as clarification, I mean this in the sense that if death is the most unlucky thing that can happen to you, bad luck would presumably cause it, and if you happen to have the misfortune that death is not the most unlucky thing that can happen it is likely something even worse
speak of the devil, my tuxedo cat is now calling for my blood
she wishes me bad luck and death
I should never have brought up this whole cat thing
mark my words, this cat will murder me one day

7:18 AM
unless I just continue to suspect her, then she will keep waiting for me to drop my guard

Expect it most when you expect it least...

I always expect it
you underestimate how much I expect it XD
:P

@Adeptus ... it's a command like this that must have made Friend Computer hyper-paranoid.

What's the general approach for handling swearing in quotes from other sites in answers?

[snip] is common.
If it's not super gratuitous, though, don't make an edit exclusively to snip out quotated swears.
Find some other things to improve!

10:46 AM
yo

yo-yo

yopp.

my d&d character got revived \o/
but in the process he switched races
and he has gone from a 2'7" halfling to a 6"8' goliath

11:08 AM
Lovely.
How's he handling all the head injuries from not ducking?

dunno yet, was just at the end of the last sesesion
gonna have to get some new clothes too

12:02 PM
ah ,hey :)

12:31 PM
Hey guys! Does this dice stepping ladder strike you as fair, unfair, simple, problematic? I'm playing around with some "all on the table" design

[wave] Long time no chat.
It's hard to evaluate a dice ladder without context, unfortunately. Even something like "in this system, higher rolls are best but super-low rolls are good too" gives us something to evaluate.

Hey, yeah, sorry, I've been all over the place lately, with not much time on my hands
...and not enough courage to try to run a game again
Especially how I'm rolling 5-day weekends now, having no classes Wed-Sun
It's rather lame that I'm not running RPGs since I want to so badly

No need to apologise for being busy!

12:55 PM
Yeah, but I haven't been busy enough to justify not running...
Ugh, I feel that feeling again of "there's no way I'll be able to hold an RPG together" because I forgot in an in-the-moment way how fun it was last time

Gonna take some (of the more harmless) role playing poems to the regular gamers pub social this evening. Some I've tried out, some not, I shall see how that goes.

Anna Kreider and I are looking for Katanas & Trenchcoats artists. Maybe that's you or a friend? http://ryanmacklin.com/2016/04/search-for-katanas-trenchcoats-artists/ #YOLF
