00:00 - 12:0012:00 - 22:00

12:01 PM
Likely in the original they were Sad Islands.

How about if I show them to you the right way up?
This isn't an ID game, though.
This is a "think about what spaces are like" game.
Is this a pleasing arrangement of space?
Does it indicate where societal tensions might be found?
Which area is probably most important?

Erm... well... I liked the flipped ones better.
Though in the second it seems more apparent to me that the two islands close to each other but not the rest might be important

@eimyr That's good! Why?

and the big one
Because of natural reaction to a smile-like shape? The same way clock faces showing 13:50 sell better?

Seems reasonable.
(It's my home island chain, btw.)

12:10 PM
Is indeed Saipan and Tinlan a major center?

(If you look at populations you'll see that the two islands you singled out, Saipan and Tinian, are the most populous after the largest one, Guam.)

Oh.
That freaks me out

[grin]
@annoyingimp Hi!

(totally unrelated but I think someone may like this: Moonlight Sonata with Japanese lyrics)

@SPArchaeologist Even though it's one of the most recognisable western classical pieces it sounds like background to an anime shootout. Noir specifically.

12:18 PM
hello

Hi

12:32 PM
Silence!

I'm trying to figure out how ARRPG skill reinforcement would work if one PC had four modes.
I think the answer is: it doesn't, why are you doing that?

Not something I could help with,.

Morning

Good afternoon.
@BESW do you have a website, a blog or something?

@eimyr Nothing really functional at the moment. Why?

12:41 PM
I sort of expect the answer is "wikipedia" but maybe...

@eimyr something fitting Madoka style, so good for me :P

Nothing. I just see that there excellent writers here, e.g. Bankuei and I was wondering if you have similar.
I have a feeling I'd enjoy reading your blog.

Ah, thanks.
I have a hard time not disappearing up my own [redacted] when I don't have an interactive audience, unfortunately.

Your knowledge an opinions seem very organised and moderated. That's why I have this feeling. Of course I don't know you personally, so that would be an appropriate way to pick your brains when you feel comfortable, as opposed to ambushing you on RPG.SE chat.
Maybe co-found something then?

Mebbee. Long-term I'm looking to establish some sort of professional presence that would include a blog.

12:46 PM
There is a tremendous amount of people writing about RPGs in general but it's hard to spot the pearls among the rubble.
And some blogs that I find very informative and exhaustive on certain topics (The Alexandrian for example) also publish stuff that is tangent to game theory and technique part.

Any blog by me would be entirely random.

Honestly, you do NOT give that impression.

Oh, I'd do a lot of research and so forth for each topic.

Or maybe it would seem random to you.
I think I would greatly enjoy something like Extra Credits but for RPGs.
Maybe there is something, I don't know really.

But each post's subject matter would be unpredictable. The role of cultural attitudes toward property in landscape painting, the concept of the "wax cat trap" in video games, the position of bronies in the so-called "New Sincerity movement" and their role in the popularity of Steven Universe, the use of commas by Brenda Ueland--RPGs would be a minor part of my blog's topic range.

12:57 PM
So you wouldn't necessarily write about RPGs exclusively. Shame.

Not at all.
My interest in RPGs is mostly sustained inasmuch as it ties into my other interests.

You would need a very similarly targeted audience. Which might be hard to get

Almost a Tesla-coil theremin. [waits patiently]
> BETTY DAVIS'S GUITAR (hardware, 3 stunts)
Function: Shocking rock & roll
Flaw: Get lost in the music
Effect: You can use Provoke to make physical attacks as bolts of lightning shoot out from the guitar with weapon:6. You can target everyone in your zone (except yourself) at cost.
If you're just playing music on the guitar, you can use Rapport to create advantages with a +2 bonus.

1:35 PM
@BESW Word play! I love it.
[counts benefits... 3?]

Yeah.

1:48 PM
@doppelgreener I'm having a horrible time coming up with Parrish's aspects.

@BESW Want some help?

Yesh.

What've you got, and what's on your mind?

Okay, modes are Banter, Director (re-skinned Commander) and Secret Agent.
She's terrifying, mysterious, well-connected and well-informed, but she's also capable of being warm and supportive and nurturing.
She's efficient and hits Batman levels of preparedness for every eventuality --or is even MORE scarily good at improv.
I've put Parrish The Immortal at the bottom of the Parrish brainstorming sheet, btw.

2:06 PM
@BESW You've got a bunch of phrases that look like they're the most important bits for channeling into aspects.
@BESW Terrifying and mysterious are things that will occur through play or between the lines. Well-connected and well-informed are definitely aspect things. Warm and supportive and nurturing are as well, so is being Batman levels of preparedness.

Hmm. Thanks. I've got ideas!
I'll sleep on it, if I can.
Also, what's the earliest you might be available to play tomorrow?

@BESW Very earliest would be like... 1pm probably. (I don't like my chances of being coherent and not-exhausted before midday.)
@BESW I left a whole bunch o' comments.

3:12 PM
Pixie avatar moved.
Your ambush attempt has failed.

2 hours later…
5:26 PM
@SPArchaeologist Vulpixie used Roar! Vulpixie fled!

1 hour later…
6:53 PM
My day off so far: get in several arguments on the internet, re-implement a unix utility for no good reason. good day

7:49 PM
I spent 3+ hours (and that's just today) finishing a pin-the-tail-on-the-Cheshire-cat game for my coworker because I make things more complex than they need to be. But then, this is why she asked me to do it. :P
Er, pin the grin, rather.

Lol

8:24 PM
45 minutes of yelling "NO DONT DO THAT!" I think i finally got the user to pay attention

1 hour later…
9:38 PM
Lol
