yeah Im paranoid about all your eggs in one basket
I should really change up all my passwords again
ebay just got hit if you hadn't heard
havent used ebay for years so I should be okay
but thanks
makes sense
I feel like were gonna get a lot of low quality Qs and As for dnd-5e until we get our hands on materials
I cant fault that guy for his question today but we cant give good answers right now
@JoshuaAslanSmith yep, we'll have to be vigilant about closing the cruft
and while I like mike mearls, his tweets are not going to be authoritative enough
right now most of our answers in 5e stuff are speculative or based on play test...I don't have an issue with speculative answers if they're good, founded speculation. Like your answer that's informed by the released dates, and like the answer with Mearls' tweet (he's not god, but he is sort of running the show)
wouldn't hurt to link up the EnWorld article indicating that something like 15%+ of the PHB (the character construction section) will be free online
19:17
ooh didnt know about that
yeah
I agree they both work as placeholders
but I think we should definitely go back in and reanswer (or edit in my case for this question) to reflect better materials
absolutely
every next question will need an update 0-day preferably
pre zero day if legally possible
19:34
gah, just lost an hour because I'm too stupid to throw exceptions :(
should have realized it like 3 hours ago, when stuff was timing out with no errors thrown...but oh well. Found it now, proper failure modes engaged
real debugging can ensue
im glad
nothing like missing a little thing like that and repeatedly getting failures
the problem is that it was just eating errors and I couldn't figure out why...I knew there were errors, but I couldn't find them, because a catch with no throw means it just eats them and moves on...
Boy.
There are some users that really drive me mad.
19:39
@ThalesPereira yes, yes there are
(though I have to remember that sometimes I am the user that drives others mad)
There's one guy who donwvotes every other answer with some stupid comments, in special
But today he really got over the edge. My answer agreed with his, and he donwvoted anyway saying something in the lines of "Did you ever read the book?"
The mod's cleaned already the comments, but...
this... nasty feeling stays
@ThalesPereira ugh, you can flag if you feel like it's abusive (if for instance you've noticed his votes have been reversed with the auto downvoted script)
@waxeagle exactly what Im talking about, when I was learning JS for a class I had the PDF version of the txtbook working off of and we were supposed to take examples of broken code and fix them. Since it was an OCR I just copy and pasted, but the issue was that the type of " used was different than default (some kind of alt code for more diagonal ones) so it wasn't reading them as quotation marks and screwing up my code but when I looked at my code it looked right
lol that's great. Smart quotes play hell with all kinds of things
by the way, Xmen DOFP was a really great movie
19:45
I keep hearing that
will be checking it out sometime soon
I wasnt emotionally moved like w/ Nolan's Batman trilogy (par for the course with me as far as marvel goes) but there was good character drama and the movie was a genre film (political thriller) first, superhero movie second so it was very strong as a result
@JoshuaAslanSmith always like to hear that.
@JoshuaAslanSmith nice

Q: Can you have a shark companion out when not in water?

Kpt.KhaosI was thinking of being a druid and having a shark companion. My question is if they only know swim how can they be on land? It has no land speed indicated. I know this seems like a simple concept but I don't want to be told no because they can't walk. If so would having a shark as a companion b...

I read this, "having a companion out", and the image of a Pokeball-bearing druid instantly comes to mind.
In a sense, a Summoner could be easily reflufled to a Pokemon Trainer. Hmm... Ideas, Ideas...
20:03
@ThalesPereira definitely
anyone played Tiny Dice Dungeon? (speaking of pokemon like D&D)
@waxeagle This sounds interesting. A pokemon dnd game?
sort of. It's in the app-stores. basically you have a character, and your powers are d6s. you start with 1d6 and can get up to 4, they have different properties (multiplier, x2, x3,x4, >2, health, poison), and you collect monsters by capturing them in battle, then they fight with you (and have their own dice pools)
its a fun little time killer
20:42
Has anyone asked Mearls what DDI looks like with Next?
20:54
Tiny Dice Dungeon is pretty fun.
21:05
I dont know if that has been explicitly asked
if you feel me asking it is a question is out of line I will delete it and let you ask it.

@Metool When a whale rots, and scavengers start to eat it, the great big fleshy parts of its body are the first to go, leaving only the bits closest to the spine. That makes it look more like a giant snake or eel than like a whale.
But that's not all!
A rotting toothed whale, like a beluga, can produce a corpse with teeth and a head shape that--when it's mostly skull without all the blubber--leads people unfamiliar with whale carcasses to misidentify them as cryptids.
I've also seen reports that get very confused by half-rotted baleen and the way whale sinew can turn kinda fluffy as it rots under the right conditions, leading to "furry" corpses.

Q: Can there be recourse for answers to deleted or closed questions?

AvestronGranted there might not be much that can be done for deleted answers (a question for the submission of answers to deleted questions perhaps?). However could it be made possible to submit answers to a question if the answer form was opened prior to closing? Perhaps it is a flaw that I have bu...
