Sigh. My druid character can't be powerful unless I give up roleplaying.
@Emrakul Because you have to get a different animal companion?
user61230
That is the primary reason.
What are your animal companions?
user61230
My preferred animal companion is an owl, but the group insisted I let it free.
What system? Can you have more than one?
user61230

D&D 3.5e; nope. Just one.
Hmm. There's gotta be a feat for that or something.
user61230
Not to my knowledge?
They want you to get a bear or something?
You could reskin a giant eagle as an owl, but, alas, they are also not on the list.
user61230
Yeah, that's not really an option. Iunno, I just don't want to have to optimize my character for killing things
user61230
But maybe that's what I signed up for by playing 3.5? I can't seem to get them to try anything else, though :/
23:28
What are your stats like otherwise?
Can you swing a weapon well yourself?
What level are you?
user61230
We just hit level 6; STR=10, DEX=15, CON=12, INT=14, WIS=18, CHA=12
user61230
I primarily use a (masterwork) longbow as a weapon.
user61230
I haven't really had a chance to use Wild Shape, but I'll take Natural Spell and hope there's an opportunity to use it.
I think around level 6 you get some powerful direct-damage and battlefield control spells.
user61230
That could be potentially useful
user61230

I already have a couple stupidly powerful spells. Icelance (5d6 damage, stun 1d4 rounds) and Fire Wings (2d6 fire attack, fly 60ft)
user61230
Also hypothermia is insane. 1d10 con damage, dealt again after 10 rounds.
10 rounds is a long time, though.
But, yeah, druids get good stuff.
IIRC the most effective builds do involve some kind of ridiculous meatstick of a creature.
user61230
Yeah. I guess I'm just playing the wrong kind of game. I suppose I can deal with it, though
user61230
I'd really like to get this group to experiment a bit, but they're totally unwilling to
Is this useful to you? Wild Cohort feat.
I figure paying a feat tax to have both your owl and some kind of giant ragebear is not too bad.
Maybe later they will get stuck in a teleporter and turn into an owlbear.

Ha! What book is that from?
No idea.
I found it off an OOTS forum thread that I found from Google.
user61230
Hmm. I'll look for its book; it could potentially be useful. Maybe Natural Spell would be more useful, though, since my two feats are currently pretty basic.
user61230
Eschew Materials and Combat Casting.
user61230
Thanks for the suggestions, though!
Good luck.

Thanks!
Also, might be time to find some kind of crazy PrC that will fix your problem.
that's basically the solution to any 3.5 character-building problem: throw feats or PrCs at it :/
Words are like Play-Doh. How is this?
