@amanuel2 The short version: To express a hypothetical condition, you use a sequence of two verbs. The condition verb is in the imparfait, and the result verb is in the conditionnel. This is not a stylistic choice — you don't just use it for effect! It's a grammatical rule about how to express those hypotheticals.
Now, to align that fact with your slide, you can cut off the end and just let the condition speak for itself as a wish. « Si seulement j'étais en vacances ! » If only I were on vacation! (Then I would do X, Y and Z...)
