@JourneymanGeek I am not sure, if this is the right place, but I do not know, how to send a more privatw message ^^ I think we get not much real new users in pets.SE and have not much general teaffic compared with other sites. So I think we should give a minimum of reasoning to new users before deleting their writing. (Not speaking about rude or spam texts).
So if someone shares an anecdot as an answer, maybe it is possible to make a comment out of this. Or to give a comment to this new user with one sentence "anecdot is not a quality answer". I was very thankful for each piece of explanation I got because I was able to adapt and grow with it :)
And I send you my congratulations and thanks to make the job as moderator! (This I send to all three of you ^^) It is much work and I am happy there are people doing it and offer pets.SE a future
(PS I am sorry for the spelling. The chat is not really good working.on my phone -.-)

@Allerleirauh Let me tell you about how I tend to handle situations like that: I check whether it’s a registered or unregistered user. I have noticed that those who bothered to register are much more likely to respond to gentle advice. Unregistered users are often more the „drive by“ type, so questions don’t get clarified, edits never happen etc. it’s more like “sending a message to the void”.
When they do want to respond, unregistered users will be back and if they can’t access their old posts, they will add another answer, often then as registered user. Then they need guidance on how to merge accounts or edit posts, but those tend to stick around.
I am not saying offering guidance to unregistered users is wrong, but it’s got a lower success rate and can be frustrating.
Lovely to see you here, btw., @Allerleirauh!

@Stephie Yes I remember one told me this once somw time ago. Maybe it is because of the mobile website, or my missing interest ^^ that I did not notice that there are two kinds of users. I hope I will remember faster next time, to have a look for this information.
@Stephie I am sorry I am not much here, but as I said, the mobile website for the chat is a pain -.-

@Allerleirauh you can change it to the “normal” mode. I don’t like the mobile version either.

@Allerleirauh that's reasonable - I'll try to do better there 😅
