@JourneymanGeek Human: “Everything is fine!”. Cat “My A..!”
We had such a spectacular sunrise today, I simply had to share it with you.

6:34 PM
That really is an amazing sunrise, thank you for sharing :) (We didn't have one, it's snowing so we had "black" to "grey" to "searing white")

Yesterday it was so foggy (think cliché London fog) that it was a good thing that we were two humans. One constantly on the lookout for wildlife and walkers. Today was the total opposite.

That middle one especially would look great cropped a bit and framed :)
We've had some lovely ones here, but this time of year it's mostly just shades of grey

If tomorrow is promising, I may take the “real” camera along. With an iPhone, it’s like a bad watercolor if enlarged. Unwanted “artistic effect” lol.
But Hubby made a spectacular slow motion video, with snow everywhere and doggy at full speed, all contre-jour.
Apart from the lights, the second highlight was the fox sauntering out of the forest and along the path. All calm (and slightly annoyed, because we clearly disrupted his original plans).
How are you, @AllisonC? Weekend ahead?

All considered, not too bad. My car's in the shop for the next shrug days, but I got a loaner two days earlier than they expected so I'm able to still run errands :)
I'm looking at a new phone, got two options, and the major thing making it tough for me to decide is the camera. One has a good regular and wide angle lens, the other has the exact same regular and wide lenses, along with an optical zoom, and I need to decide what that's worth to me.
(It's a $200 price difference, and the latter is also slightly larger than my current phone, so I might go in and see how I feel about the size.)

6:56 PM
Haptics is super important, so really trying them is a good idea.
I am of course someone who says “use a real camera”, but to paraphrase Tony Northrup, the best camera is the one you have with you.
Guess why I tend to share iPhone snapshots although we have two perfectly fine Nikon bodies and a bunch of lenses.
If the camera is important, do you have reviews on the optical zoom?

I went through a review comparing photos between the two models, everything outside the zoomed photos were identical
I have found that the Pixels have very nice cameras, sufficient that aside from zoom, I haven't felt a real need to carry a "real camera" anywhere. Which is why the zoom is also making me so unsure which way to go.

7:14 PM
That does sound like an argument in favor of the zoom?

It's a pretty strong one. It's the size that's making me waffle, it's the same width as my current one, but longer.

There are a few cases where physics are a factor - some effects are technically impossible with the small lenses (although they have gotten quite good at simulating). And shutter speed. A slow shutter is a pain in the you-know-what. Take the doggie - I need to sort of calculate when he will be where, with the DSLR I keep shooting quasi non-stop.
But for everyday use? Absolutely, use the phone.
@AllisonC I always found width more critical - but I have small hands.

Width happens to be basically identical to my current phone so I'm not worried there at least! Shutter speed is great too (and apparently there's a slow exposure mode added, though that might be on my phone already if it's software-enabled...)
Don't see it in there, so maybe it requires some hardware features too. (The Night Sight is really good though)

In any case we’ll gladly take all photos you are willing to share ;-)
Good luck and see you soon!
Need to pick up minor 1 soon and my hair is still wet.

7:30 PM
Have a great rest of your day!
