Q: What to do with old questions/answers providing out of date information?

AllerleirauhI ask especially about crate training questions, which are around 6 years old. They most times look the same: I need my dog to stay in crate for night and workday, but the dog is not willing to do so without barking/whining/destroing the crate. What should I do? The answers provide solutions, but...

Good time of day

48 HOURS REMAIN
@MetaMoose "Casual readers who come here via Google or another search engine might take that as incentive to do further research rather than taking the first answer as ultimate truth." There are casual readers who read more than the topmost answer?

@Sarov AND SO IT WILL COME TO PASS

Hopefully not!

Sigh... my housemate is doing some gig-style dog boarding (through an app service). A customer dropped off two really messed up looking dogs last night (badly bred plus massively overweight), and one of them looked and sounded like it was about to keel over at any moment.
Sadly it did and now she's stuck dealing with that. Feel bad for her, feel bad for the dog, not so much the owner who should never have let the dog get so fat that it basically asphyxiated itself.

@AllisonC Geez, is he dead?

5:38 PM
@Stephie Unfortunately yes
Saw it last night, it couldn't breathe, couldn't walk, couldn't lay down, she said it couldn't even squat to relieve itself
Shorter muzzle and very short legs, and critically overweight to the point that it was wider than it was tall
Only about two years old, too, so I'm pretty disgusted with the owner

@AllisonC and rightfully so. That’s plain irresponsible.
Poor pooch! He must have suffered for a while.

@Stephie Probably most of his life, sadly. There's another dog that was boarded with him who's also in bad shape, all I can hope now is that this is a wake-up call for the owner and he gets her on a diet before it's too late

6:24 PM
Looks like they've reached some kind of arrangement with the owner and are taking the remains to be handled
(just saw a blanket-wrapped bundle departing on the door cam)

Oof.

definitely not something they should be having to deal with when just doing gig boarding

6:59 PM
Oh wow, this is so bad. Your housemate has my consolence, but the owner doesn't deserve any. They basically murdered their dog.

7:09 PM
Yeah :(
