Q: What animals would be best suited as pets or comfort animals for extended periods of spaceflight in microgravity?

uhohVarious scenarios that put more or less every folks in space for extended periods of time in microgravity in the future have been proposed, mostly based on space tourism but there could be colonization scenarios as well. Yes artificial gravity is also proposed in some cases, but for the purpose o...

@JourneymanGeek but you have to be aware of what you are signing up for.
Oh, that's true

But also true of any pet
(granted, we did ... kinda didn't do any of that when we got Ash but...)

@JourneymanGeek The question is from a first-time dog owner looking for their first dog. A "covid puppy" that wasn't appropriately trained or socialized and is going to need a lot of work wouldn't be the best option for first-time owners; it'll just have higher odds of being dumped a second time in that situation. Better for those to go to people who have experience and know what they're getting into.

Heya! I've gone a bit through meta discussions about topics, the help center and the insect tag... given that A51 and the beekeeping proposal is shut down, can anyone confirm if caring for bees is on topic or not?
My bee house is/was full of leafcutter bees but it's getting vandalized by some other bee/wasp, not sure what's going on

@curious Couldn't tell ya. My suggestion would be to post the question, with a comment saying what you said here. Worst-case, it gets closed.

@Sarov figured it was an edge case :) I had some bee stuff answered on biology before but it was species ID...this is different. Thanks!

@curious I guess it would be off-topic. I was told that if you are caring for one sheep, it is on topic of a flock of sheep then it is of topic. But bee hives being a super-organism, well... it is a hard call :)
Still, if it wouldn't take too much of your time, you can still ask it. This is mostly an open-happy SE, people rarely take their time to close questions, unless it is "my platy pregnant?"
