@YvetteColomb Is this the one that was in your profile picture a long time ago? It has a little white patch on it's head
Nope, this is a girl who arrived today. She was unhandled until yesterday, when she had a halter and lead rope put on her. She allowed me to pat her face, chin, neck and her mane in less than 40 minutes and I removed the halter and let her into the paddock

ohai
@YvetteColomb Wow, that's nice :o
Does she live with the others then?

@YvetteColomb either the camera is high up in that photo, or she's not very big
10:55
she's pretty special
she's a pony type. Won't be big.
She's in foal (pregnant)
You have another one with a white mark on it's head, right?
Before I let her out :)
Is there anything like "feral" horse who can't be domesticated? @YvetteColomb
Not really. Most horses can be tamed. Occasionally they've been too traumatised.
I wanted to let people know here that I'm stepping down as moderator. It's a decision I feel is right for the site. Allow some new blood to step up. I'll still be around spamming chat with my horses. :)

My first reaction was …….omg it's devils legs :|
11:20
@Sonevol ?
11:32
@Sonevol please explain,are you talking about the legs of the devil as in goat legs?
Hey @trondhansen :) How are you?
@trondhansen yeah
im fine i was at my pond yesterday to clean the filter i have running,i did not see any fish but i did not expect to,it is dark down there for as long as the pond is covered by styrofoam :)
JAD
JAD
@Sonevol that's a Zebra
11:48
@Sonevol trine managed to get stuck on top of some furniture today,it is about 10CM from the roof to the furniture so she could not get down :) so she did cry when i came home after i had been shopping :)
@trondhansen Nice, I took the net off mine for a while yesterday. It looks really nice. I need to raise the filter in the pond a little just to get the flow through the stream to be better
JAD
JAD
@YvetteColomb That's too bad Yvette. Thank you for your contribution over those years :)
@JAD what Zebra????? that's clearly a horse O-O
@Henders we still have a lot of snow so i have to wait untill the snow is gone before i can remove the styrofoam from my pond,but if the weather stay like it is now the snow will be gone in a couple of weeks it was +10C yesterday and it is +6C now.
@trondhansen what is styrofoam
12:01
@trondhansen Yeah, we had +12C yesterday :D
@Sonevol it is insulation for buildings but i use it to keep the heat loss from my pond down during winter.i simply let it float on top of the water in my pond.
ok and you run a filter in pond too?
@Sonevol i do it is mostly to get the CO2 out of the water to keep the biological prosseses going,it is not something one have to do to keep the fish alive :) but it is good to keep an opening in the ice to get rid of the potentially toxic gasses.
I have seen in TV, in north pole, surface water is frozen with only a few holes here and there...…….the seals come there to take oxygen and polar bears wait there to catch seals
12:17
it does not look like the polar bears have a future,it is less and less ice for every year so in a few years they will be extinct :(
I did a small water change on the pond the other day
@Henders it is not nice to show me this when my area is covered by snow :) but it will be spring here soon too :)
@Henders Geckos will shed throughout their lives, they shed in pieces (and eat it too!) where as healthy snakes shed in one piece and don't eat it lol.
Geckos eat their shed?????? OMG...…...dusgusting
lol must get rid of the evidence!
12:25
@RebeccaRVT Thanks! Do you want to put a comment on there?
Also I believe they get nutritional value from it too
Ya I can
slowly getting back into routine from the vaca
@RebeccaRVT @Henders I nominate @trondhansen to be next admin to fill up the post to be vacated by @YvetteColomb
Oh ya need to do elections
how does that work @Henders
lots of animals eat the placenta after giving birth too and not only the carnivores :) it is about conserving energy :)
We have to work out if there is any requirement for a new moderator first :) We'll only know after Yvette has been gone for a little while.
12:30
@trondhansen So how do the herbi digest placenta...…….can they?
That's unfair.....getting mod privelage is also what one deserves as a reward for their hard work on the site...…...it's a voluntary site....and @trondhansen has shown lots of hard work and dedication
@Henders ^^
If you feel strongly about it, feel free to post on Meta :)
Remember, there's a lot of people who work hard on these sites. Most high rep users have the same tools as moderators. A moderator is only here to help handle the situations a normal user cannot. Otherwise, we're just regular users like everyone else.
If we made everyone a moderator who was hard working and dedicated, we'd have loads :P
I'll speak to the CMs and see what the process is.
@Sonevol i am not going to be a moderator.i have no problem in evaluating Q&A but to be a mod some thing more is needed :)
I couldn't mod here, it makes me too mad/sad
:>
then how about election?
12:40
@Sonevol I'm pretty sure it's based on demand. If the current moderator team can handle the load, then there's no need to bring in another. As I say, I'll ask the Community Managers (CMs) about this and see what they say.
@djsmiley2k lmao
@Henders and did you ask about Instagram and facebook channel?
No I haven't actually, my apologies. I'll do that now too.
Thanks for the reminder.
JAD
JAD
@RebeccaRVT It's like chewing on nails :P
@Henders IIRC there's still 3 of you, so that should be fine if nothing weird happens :P
@JAD Eww lol
12:45
@Sonevol please do not start the debate about new mods just because @YvetteColomb wants to focus on other interrests.
JAD
JAD
@trondhansen It's pretty customary to look for a new mod when one steps down.
@JAD it is but it is not some thing we as users need to debate here so let us take this when the time is right.
my friend wants a pet dog, but she wants male dog as female dog has menstruation. Is it problematic to manage it in case of female dogs. Because I would want a female dog

13:04
@trondhansen oh yeah, I definitely agree with Henders that we should assess whether a replacement is needed to begin with

14:06
@Sonevol I've asked about both of those things for you now. I only enquired about Instagram not Facebook because that's what we originally discussed. I'll get back to you when they reply.
14:41
@Sonevol For pets, either gender should be desexed or sterilized to prevent health issues and the birth of unwanted puppies.

Q: What's the most efficient way to burn my young cat's energy?

ZibbobzWe own two cats - a Russian Blue female turning 7 this year, and a Russian Blue/Maine Coon Male who is 2 1/2. Both are rescue cats from the local area, and both are very well-tempered around us. The problem is when the younger cat wants to play with the older cat - which is frequent. Sometim...

Q: My betta is laying at the bottom of his tank, struggling to move. I think he may be dying

Teddy BearMy betta's name is Challen, he's a 10 month old male half-moon betta. He had a severe case of fin rot that he never really recovered from about 5 months ago. Now he is lying at the bottom of his tank, and only moves when I disturb him. Challen lives normally in a 10gal, but i have him in about .4...
