Q: How can I stop a cat from preventing another cat in the house from using the litter box?

jmort253When going to work, two cats are left alone in the house. When coming home at night, there's a big mess on the floor. The only solution so far has been to put the aggressive cat inside a cat carrier for a portion of the day/night to allow the meeker cat the opportunity to use the litter box. T...

Q: What is most appropriate age to neuter/spay a cat?

coverbackWhat is the most appropriate age to neuter or spay a cat? Does gender, way he behaves, time of year, anything else affect it? There is a related question, which I think should be linked, but doesn't exactly answer the question: How does early desexing affect my cats? Can't believe this hasn't b...

Q: My cat has a cold, what can I do?

ArianMy cat is sneezing and her nose is running, so I think she has a cold. What can I do to help her feel better or get better more quickly? It's nothing serious (she is vaccinated against cat flu) so I don't want to go to the vet.

I've spent too much time responding to Chad's weird claims on this question (most of which were deleted) and don't plan to do any further research. I'm aggravated and want it to stop. I'm not sure how to handle things further (on any other site I would block/mute/ignore him). What do I do here? pets.stackexchange.com/questions/1827/…

@Zaralynda - You can let it go. If he doesn't like the answer he can down vote or provide a different answer. You're not obligated to continue...
On another note... the medical advice questions seem to be increasing. I wish people wouldn't use "doesn't seem serious" when talking about animal illness. They don't have a frame of reference.

^ My cat Miles, in one of his favorite poses. I particularly like seeing him stretch out like this, since he was abused before he was rescued. When we first got him, he was always huddled up into a tiny ball.
cat abuse !fun
@iKlsR I'd say hurray for the cat, if I wasn't so angry at the kid's parents for letting this situation happen in the first place ><
@Beofett You know spoilt kids, when they mad, they hit.

@iKlsR Then the kid should not be allowed that close to the cat.
I firmly believe there needs to be a set of competency tests before anyone is allowed to have a pet... or a kid.
Kid got off light IMHO.

@Zaralynda I didn't see the stuff that's deleted now, but I'm with @JohnCavan -- you don't owe anybody more of an answer than you've already provided (it's good and solid and I upvoted days ago). Comments raising objections are valid; comments with unhelpful tone are not. If you receive comments that you find objectionable you can flag them. Otherwise, if you don't feel like the conversation is going in a useful direction, it's probably best to just walk away.

Q: Can a bath really kill a rabbit?

James JenkinsThere is some controversy on bathing rabbits. There are multiple claims that bathing a rabbit can cause a fatal shock at the same time there are multiple videos online of bunnies getting a bath. While I find several respected rabbit authorities repeating this warning, I am not finding any reli...

@JohnCavan - make it a bit more genericized by editing it out, then. :-P

@JohnCavan Yeah, not being able to see or interact with the animal definitely means we can't make that judgement call

Q: How do I eliminate the black algae from my planted aquarium?

JeniMy aquarium has live plants with a beta, hatchet fish, barbs, cory and a siamese algae eater. It is developing black algae on the decorations and glass. I scraped it off the glass. What else should I do?
