6:07 AM
Wee Woo - Wee Woo theres a new design
So confusing at first :D

6:35 AM
I'm not a fan

Me neither
But thats usually the way with new design
Once I get used to it, it will probs be fine

6:50 AM
unrelatedly
they put a video up of that westie... he's weapons grade cute :(
@SerenaT It needs a LOT of polish
stuff misasligned and all over the place..

Thats true, they are probably also waiting for some feedback of the community
@JourneymanGeek He is really! cute

@SerenaT Did I miss anything (again)?

@SerenaT (insta account needed, sorry)
@Elmy only the entire front page of the network

@Elmy PLease have a look here: pets.stackexchange.com

6:55 AM
meta.stackexchange.com/q/375081/135565 has a comparison of new and old views

@JourneymanGeek Who ever visits the front page??? No wonder I didn't notice XD

Also -_-

Oh, and just another meta post that went like "Here's a new feature for you, now like it" and people are like "But we don't! Why didn't you ASK anyone BEFORE forcing this on us?". And history repeats over and over again...

lol
Oh, its a signficant change
that needs polish

8 hours later…
2:44 PM
I don't know if "polish" is the right solution. I think "rollback" would be a better step.
Which I'm not saying as "oh it's change I hate it!" but as someone whose weird double-major selection made me more conscious of visual design than the average programmer.
This is a bad visual design.

@AllisonC Well - the fundamental need to update the underpinning of the front end is still there
Its just not really taking into account the preferences of people who're on the site more

@JourneymanGeek I'll agree with that, but it's a design created by programmers who didn't consider how the average person will look at it (which is kind of a major failing in MANY UI designs, not just this one)

SO a rollback would be a less productive demand than "these specific things are not right"

Well, a visual rollback. Demoting the visual significance of the important stats and raising the visual significance of the unimportant one (views) is not good UI.
I don't care how much something's been viewed, and I'm not sure anyone else does either. I care about the votes, answers, and accepted answers.

Well, yeah, redoing the redo based on the people who use it
Ah, view count has always been there
the old designed emphasised votes. then answers then view count

2:50 PM
Right
But now it's scaled the three scores to the same size, but added a text color and icon that draws attention to view count, giving it a higher visual impact

Well 3 items or 4 items, or in theory 5 itrms
depending
And I swear SE devs must work with vertical monitors cause they keep nibbling away at the horizontal spaces

Yes, now that I'm scrolling a bit, I'm seeing a "watched" badge instead of just hilighting the post (which had a better visual impact)
@JourneymanGeek I would not be surprised
Well now that I've used it briefly, I have a whole new complaint too. Title and Tags basically blend together; the height is the same (yes, the tag text is smaller, but the overall element is the same height as the text), and the color between title text and tag backgrounds on unread questions is identical.

@AllisonC I'd encourage an answer stating that

I'm looking to see if there is one, first

admittedly I've not read all the answers

3:18 PM
Didn't see any referencing the issue so I tossed a quick answer on there
Other people have expressed the other issues much more eloquently than I can with only half a cup of coffee and not enough sleep in me
