@StephenKennedy I will give you a better answer later. but the quick version is, horses are released into the wild for various reasons. In this case the owner abandoned them and they were on the property when the army bought the land. They are regarded by many as pest, so they want to kill them. There
s other ways to handled them, but they take longer.

@YvetteColomb Eugh, I wouldn't want to find a snake anywhere in my house :S
I guess Jad feels differently :P

@Henders that depends entirely on the toxicity of the snake

@Henders I used to be freaked out until I studied them. I was walking through thigh - hip high grass today. For sure there were snakes. It's been undisturbed. We were electric fencing it for my horses to graze. I was mostly concerned about the two little dogs that were helping us.
we did find a huge black snake there when we first moved in - I suspect it was a python from the description

shudders

the car is there to give you some perspective

I'd worry I would step on one

I'm careful. Make noise. Follow other people's paths. That's Australia. We're full of snakes. But they're more scared of us than we are them.

2:07 PM
Yeah, it's funny because I never think twice about walking in long grass. I'd have to think more carefully if I came to Australia :P

@YvetteColomb looks like perfect herping grounds
@Henders oh yeah, I've heard plenty of anecdotes of dutchies in Australia that were not too aware that animals can actually harm you over there, wiping away spiders with bare hands and all that jazz
I'm sure this is one of those things

Yeah, i'd have to be careful :P

3:29 PM
@JAD yes defintely

idk if it's true or not but I read that more people die in horse riding accidents in Aus than are killed by wildlife
@YvetteColomb Oh they're Welsh Mountain ponies. The same as our pony that died this this year :( Been there since the 1930s. abc.net.au/news/2018-12-12/…

Q: Is this normal first day home behavior for my kitten, or should I be concerned?

Glenak1911This may be a stupid question, so I apologize in advance. My girlfriend and I received a kitten last night from a neighbor whose cat had a litter. It's my first cat(first interactive pet), but she's had experience in the past. According to our neighbor, our kitten is a little over a month old(app...

Might be I got thatstory from you :P

Did I tell it?
I can't remember. Oh well.
It's also fun when an Australian visits here, and sees you handling spiders without thinking twice about it ;)

@Tinkeringbell we do have huntsmen, but they will nip you. I shower with a couple of spiders.

@YvetteColomb That sounds more like you're a fairy tale witch than an Australian :P I like my house spider free :)

there's so many insects! the spiders are good! I have to sleep with a fan on me for months to stop mosquitos from biting me.
