Q: Is there a slope of ramps that a cat will walk down, instead of jumping down from a high landing?

New AlexandriaOlder cats gain bone and arthritis problems that are exacerbated by hard landings after a jump. We have an older cat in this place, and want to give them the best of both worlds: * a multi-stage tower with various landings to suit their whims that day, and * a series of ramp that go from flo...

A J
@Henders good afternoon!

Any daily pets for today?
How is snor doing?

JAD
Snor just ate yesterday
lol, accidentally posted it in TAS

Looking big!
Beautiful colours too
He seems quite orange

JAD
8:40 AM
well, you're looking at the red-pinkish tail under a yellow-ish lamp
the plateau she's on is 50 cm

1 hour later…
9:48 AM
So she must be just over a metre then ?

JAD
10:22 AM
@Henders give or take 130cm

@JAD What's the expected length when fully grown?

JAD
2.5-3m

How long will that take?

JAD
@Henders another 1.2-1.7 meter
honestly though, a few years

So like 2-3 years to have a 3 metre long snake! That's quite fast!

JAD
10:31 AM
don't quote me on it though
btw, for a very nice example of iridescence some snakes have: facebook.com/TheReptileReport/videos/494071724404501/…

Brian Barczyk just had a video about iridescence in snakes. They look incredible. It looks very similar to the one in that link

JAD
Snor also has a bit of it :D

10:46 AM
Oh wow, is that some kind of morph you can ahve then?

JAD
don't think so. some patterns are better at showing the iridescence though

So it's present in most but not that visible?

JAD
As you could see in that vid, that mostly black retic shows it a lot better than wildtype retics, because there is more going on behind there

Yeah, the eye is attracted to it because the body colour is so 'plain', for want of a better word.

JAD
it's sheen that's normally mostly overwhelmed by the rest of the pattern

10:51 AM
I hadn't realised that was a thing that most snakes would have, albeit hard to see.

JAD
I'm not sure tbh. Both Snor and Snakie have it (Snor more than snakie), but the hognose doesn't

I can't believe you have a snake called Snakie :p
Wait, you've got 3 snakes? I thought you only had two!

JAD
my gf has a hognose

Ah, I see. What's the hognose called? Hognosey? :p

JAD
Noodle

10:56 AM
Haha, great name
Only some of my fish have names. The big groups don't because they're too hard to tell apart

JAD
Imaginable :P

Got a good shot of my fan shrimps the other day ^

JAD
Just call them Marvin 1 through 99

Yes but which one is Marvin 1 :P
They need little name badges

JAD
do the cow approach
label on the ear

10:58 AM
Hmm, they'd have to grow ears first... :p
Wow, today I learned, fish do have ears

JAD
XD

JAD
11:39 AM
@Henders btw, on that photo you can see a tiny bit of iridescence
on top of the tail near the log

12:04 PM
@Henders dream come true for you

JAD
12:27 PM
that's a lot of water

1:02 PM
@RebeccaRVT Yep! I think I've seen that doing the rounds on the internet. It looks incredible and I'm very jealous

1:18 PM
Congratulations on 10k on MSE, @Magisch :) Just noticed!

Q: Why does my cat lick her belly until sore?

Lizzie CorbettHi I’m wondering if anyone can help me because I’m at a serious loss and I don’t know what to do. It’s really frustrating because I have been to the vets constantly over the past two years, to three different vets and nobody can tell me what’s wrong with her :(. I believe after researching onli...
