Oh one more feature request: Ability to run the same code on a whole list of test cases, to be more easily able to test full programs without needing a seperate link for each
Those fools don't realise we've been doing that for 5 months!

Is there a way to shorten this
Yes
Definitely yes
That's goofy golf hours needing 12 bytes when you can do it 6 flagless assuming singleton output
Try it Online! when you're ready
If you don't want to experiment firsr
*first
ooh nice
That should be an empty string
Does Vyxal have Thunno 2's "corresponding filter"?
basically keep the elements in b where there is a truthy element in the same place in a
Also, why does taking the head of an empty string return 0 not an empty string?
11:04
Good question
No clue
11:40
@lyxal thanks
@TheThonnu I realised that was actually because doing head remove on an empty string gives an empty list, and doing head on an empty list gives 0
But still, head remove on an empty string should give an empty string
Lyxal pushed a commit to Vyxal/v2-actually-make-negative-number-literals-work: Update test_transpiler.py
@TheThonnu the tests imply it already does?!?
???!
How is it passing those when it clearly behaves differently?

@VyxalBot yes I dev'd on main
because it was a bug fix for something that should have been a bug fix
making v2.21.9 useless
sorry, a change in 2.21.8
I deleted the 2.21.9 release because I want the compressed numbers bugfix + number negation to be included in the release too

@lyxal but i think i fixed that
I booted up a virtual environment and pip installed directly from the repo.
i then tested it and it worked.
oh right you also want the number negation
It was also saying sympify wasn't defined

So I'm trying to do infinite partitions, and I've got something that looks like it works in Scastie (it doesn't hang, at least)
But when I put the exact same code into ListHelpers and try to test that, it hangs (not even when accessing elements of the returned list, when computing the list itself, even though it should be lazy)
@user I don't think that can ever enumerate all partitions
The body of mergeInfLists is exactly the same in both places, and partitionsLazy is also almost the exact same
I'm not even using VLists anymore
@lyxal Why not?
I think there'll always be something it'll miss
Why's that?
Same reason you can't fit an infinite number of people with names consisting of infinite strings of a's and b's into hilberts hotel
The infinity of partitions is just bigger than that of the natural numbers
23:03
Wait it's uncountably infinite?
If you figured out how to list them all, I could tell you a way you missed
in The Nineteenth Byte, yesterday, by Dannyu NDos
@lyxal That's impossible because there are uncountably many partitions.
This says that the cardinality of all partitions of the natural numbers is c
I'd assume that applies to lists too (list partitions are even easier than set partitions)
@lyxal Okay let me describe it, maybe that'll help figure out what's wrong with it
Sorry I nave to go eat rn but basically I'm doing cantor diagnozliation
For every index i in the list, I split at i and make partitions from the right side, then merge those together diagonally
mergeiNfLists is the diagonal merging thing
I'm also using it in cartProd
23:25
@user won't that miss cases like where each individual item is wrapped in a singleton?
Because it'll never be able to be split at index i = infinity
And then also cases where each run of n items is grouped?
And sure you could special case those but I feel like there'd always be some variation that gets missed
