I renamed test_log.txt because pytest kept complaining. For some reason, it likes to parse any file whose name starts with test
Even if it isn't a py file?
Apparently ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Thank you pytest very cool

Does Þ< (all less than increasing) assume a strictly increasing sequence? (I assume not)
18 hours ago, by lyxal
because if so, I might need a few more examples for what it's meant to do where it doesn't start at 1 and where the gap isn't always 1
@user Yes.
I don't understand why take while less than won't work here tho
It needs to work for lazylists so yes
00:34
@emanresuA Oh :(
@emanresuA Wait why does it need that to work for lazylists?
It doesn't have to be strictly increasing, right, just increasing?
Because there was a challenge where I needed to find all fibonaccis smaller than a certain number
@user Oh yep
Sorry
Does Vyxal have a takewhile?
I was confused about what you meant by strictly increasing
Oh ok
@user I don't think so
00:36
Takewhile would really take away the need for Þ<
(although it'd take extra bytes)
1 failed, 320 passed!
oh heck yeah
01:19
hey uh there's a little problem with the pytest
it should be collecting 314 tests
but it's only collecting 310
for the elements file that is
in fact, there should be 315 tests from the YAML
gotta write a test to make sure all the tests are working
============================ 310 passed in 20.27s =============================
there's 314 in the source file
02:27
😟
There should be 321
Dang
Also, there were a few issues with the test case generation for testing lists
I've made local changes I haven't pushed yet
Do those fix tge missing tests?
No
They fix another issue with the test cases
Some cases were actually silently failing
02:31
Oof
03:04
ighto the silent fails are fixed
03:42
@user no I mean 314 inside test_elements.py
ah well I found the problem
some elements have names in the yaml that were being converted to the same name
that is, constants

12:34
ah yes I do love spending half an hour looking for a bug that's caused by bad formatting inside the YAML
@lyxal here is your bug:

Once we finish the rewrite, I think someone could spread the word about Vyxal on HN or something

6 hours later…
20:11
@user HN has pretty strict self-promotion rules, so it'd have to be organic I think
unless you submit it as a "Show HN"
or we get redwolf to dubmit it
my username choice is rather unfortunate with the existence of hackernews
people use HN to refer to me sometimes so then when people use HN to refer to hackernews it confuses me
20:21
@user (and do we want them to hug vyxal.pythonanywhere.com to death?)
@pxeger (We're using vyxal.pythonanywhere.com for the rewrite btw)
@emanresuA you saw nothing
