Lyxal merged PR #391 (Vyxal/Vyxal) (Vyxal:improve-ẋ-and-İ → Vyxal:main): Update docs for `İ` and make the implementations of ẋ and İ good.
cgccuser deleted branch Vyxal/improve-ẋ-and-İ

Are we going to release 2.4.2, aka ACEless version

I don't know how feasible that is...
it only exists on the website

5:20 AM
that's for watching while I wait for GH sponsors to approve my application and while I wait for sponsors

@emanresuA why not opt for a faster bytecode target
would be worth trying something like jvm maybe

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ we need it to be runnable online
And heroku bad
Unless scala can run jvm bytecode platform-independent
Can it do that?

10:04 AM
Just so I remember: rn vyx.al is $18.50 with Netim
Imma gon see just how much prices fluctuate
Ofc a custom domain is all assuming we get sponsors lol
@emanresuA what about Microsoft Azure?
I've got $100 in free credits because github education pack
And (hypothetical) sponsor money could also go towards costs there too

10:31 AM
hmm yall thinking of activating gh sponsors?

10:54 AM
i already have
just waiting for the approval lol

how does it work?

you give github some details like bank account stuff and identification, they approve your application and you create tiers for people to donate

cool i will make a bank account :P

Quick question: is there a link or something that describes how exactly Vyxal compresses and decompresses strings? I've been looking through the source code on github (very cool!) but I can't figure it out...

@Komali I don’t know if such a resource exists, but we’ll make one
Until then: @hyper-neutrino you implemented compression right? Could you explain it to Komali?
Also, welcome to the Vyxal room!

@Komali The long story short of it is that non-printable ASCII characters get paired up and put into a lookup dictionary of common words / letter sequences. So for decompression, you basically go through a string and if you see a printable ASCII character you just keep it, and otherwise, you get two non-printables and convert it into base whatever and index it into the dictionary.
(I'm not sure what happens or what's supposed to happen if there is only one non-printable ASCII, but it used to just cause weird parsing glitches)
Compressing is a bit more complicated; basically, we do dynamic programming on the string, so if the string has length X, we make an array of size X+1 of strings, where array[J] tells us the shortest way to encode the first J characters of the string
so obviously array[0] is the empty string, and then for each subsequent J, array[J] could be either array[J - 1] + string[J], or some array[J - K] + reverse_dictionary(string[J - K : J])
it's here in the source code: github.com/Vyxal/Vyxal/blob/…

Great explanation, would you mind if I quoted it in Tutorial.md later?

oh sure, go ahead

@hyper-neutrino fun fact: it indexes into a second shorter dictionary

A: Tips for Golfing in Vyxal

lyxalUtilise the Short Dictionary Note: This is a 2.6.x+ feature only Newer versions of Vyxal have a neat little feature where 1 character SCCs are indexed into a special "short" dictionary of overlyspecialised "words". Here's a list of all the current entries: \d+ λ -?\d+ ƛ \d+\.\d+ ¬ -?\d+(\.\d*)? ∧...
