@Amithkk I created the first iteration of the HTTP-R package, but i'd like it to have someone review it as well as test it before I throw it up onto the PPA. Also, it doesn't plop directly into /var/www/, but rather /var/www/xbmc-http-r/ for now (it creates that folder)

@TheEvilPhoenix Ok gimme the deb
sec
make sure you added your PPA though
because jethttp isnt in any repos ;)
php5 and php5-gd are though
W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/amithswebblogteam/ppa/ubuntu/dists/oneiric/main/source/‌Sources 404 Not Found
because you didnt add it right
sec
13:04
Oneric is not supported :D
hehe
that's what i forgot to do
ppa:amithswebblogteam/ppa <-- that goe sinto sources
and lemme fix something
give it 4 minutes
i've told the system to push the natty package of jethttp into the oneric repo in the ppa
and add these into sources.list:
you never add the source repos
you add that
into sources.list on oneric
@TheEvilPhoenix Doing apt-add repository does :P
then you didnt put the right string in
apt-add-repository ppa:amithswebblogteam/ppa
just that
or w/e the command is
W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/amithswebblogteam/ppa/ubuntu/dists/oneiric/main/source/Sources 404 Not Found

W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/amithswebblogteam/ppa/ubuntu/dists/oneiric/main/binary-i386/Packages 404 Not Found

E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
thats because its trying to be smartassy
EDIT THE DAMNED SOURCES.LIST MANUALLY
don't trust the builtin commands
and I know there's stuff in the system
because it reads as having oneiric packages
and remember i have had 3 hours of sleep
so my rages tend to be very intense today
>.>
13:11
You do know about the sleep button right
Nevermind
still same
* virtually sees TheEvilPheonix sleeping*
13:38
Silly me
it works
@TheEvilPhoenix 500 Internal Server Error

There was an error processing your request.
I get that
check the logs

sounds like either a webserver error or your config is messed
want me to redo the package with apache2 as a dependency?
13:53
Ok
But that would destroy the cause :P
:P
for testing purposes
install apache
use it
@George MEET ME!
see if it works
@TheEvilPhoenix I already have apache2 installed
and?
that?
the package is dependent on jethttp though so they may be conflicting
13:56
@TheEvilPhoenix I have stopped apache
did you start apache, stop jethttp, and see if the same errors occur?
as @George said, jethttp is untested with PHP
No it doesent
what doesnt
the errors dont occur in apache2?
so the issue is in jethttp
@Amithkk did you get any info from the XBMC team yet?>
because i bugged their IRC channel
and because its under the GPL/LGPL v2, we can use it
i.e. grab the source packages and build them
or god forbid, i grab the entire source code and repackage it
as long as we give attribution to the XBMC team
which we can do if I build the debian package
14:01
:DDDDD
@Amithkk i'm going to see if I can't get the source packages
and then build them
for xbmc
what version do you want me to get, Natty?
oh btw
my building environment is always Lucid
for stability reasons
but i can always push the code up to natty or others
Natty+Oneric
And Lucid
Just push for everything 10.+
oh dear
there's no natty packages for XBMC
what to do...
i know
@TheEvilPhoenix No prob
i use the maverick one
GET THE LUCID SOURCE THEN REBUILD THE DAMNED THING IN NATTY!
14:11
Ill build
MUAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!
who's going to build the package? ;)
i am going to grab the source package
and just reupload that to our PPA
Oh ****
im using Oneric
FAILURE!
YOU HAVE BEEN JUDGED :p
</weirdo>
PS can we get a team GPG siginature?
already exists
unless you want a uniform shared PGP key
in which case i'll create one now
14:13
Ok!
the team by default already has a PGP key in the system
Oh no
but i can make a .deb signing one
i just was running my server with no protection
problem is... @George will need to rebuild the jethttp package with said PGP key
FAIL, YOU HAVE FAILED!
um...
we need a team email :P
14:14
on it!
not a mailing list
but ... yeah a mailing list :P
because once i have it i'll throw that into the PGP key i'm creating
you don't mind if i make it a freaking crazy sized bitstrength do ya? like 4096 or something?
i only use 4096 bit strength keys.
password of the combined email?
@TheEvilPhoenix k
oh btw @Amith
you seriously owe me for my time.
:\
Better change this into a private room
cant. but i'll erase the code shortly
erasing now. make sure you have it
IT IS POOFED!
and now as I said, you owe me for my time. it took me 2.5 hours to write the debian/install file, because there are so many files and dirs
14:18
Security Passwoed
@TheEvilPhoenix The team email
@TheEvilPhoenix How may i owe you
by being grateful :P
14:19
Thank You alot @TheEvilPhoenix Thou art awesome
2
anyways brb, going to grab the source tarball
@Amithkk ooh i can copy the xbmc packages in directly. no need to build. want me to copy in maverick, lucid?
i'll then have to copy the maverick up
(version will have "maverick" in it, but idfc)
@TheEvilPhoenix Yes
Oh noes the password was lost!
which one
:P
switch the two words
oh
I need verification
LOL
heh. i've initiated the copy of the packages
now one thing i failed to do... was create the http-r for only i386 and amd64
so... i'll need to redo that before pushing the stuff up.
14:26
can ya give my your Phone no
Need verification
US number
erasing in 30 seconds
Youll get a call
give me the code
@TheEvilPhoenix your email
which one :P
14:30
your gmail
they're all gmail :P
use the third one
btw erasing those email addresses in 15 seconds
so copy-paste ;)
Now see your email
access verification accepted, up to 30 minutes for it to process
I got the confirmation
:)
the PGP key is going to have the same passcode as the one we said earlier
14:33
Awesome
so make sure you have that code written down
@TheEvilPhoenix the gmail password?
because that's the code we use to sign these ;)
yep that code is the same code being used on the PGP private key
which we will both share
I hate my mind
It forgot
i'll send the passcode to the email :P
might take a few to generate the key
once its generated i'll send it via that shared email ;)
14:37
@TheEvilPhoenix Note that you cannot add package stream's like Oneric without the admin's permission
So you are an admin from now

1 hour later…
15:51
facepalm
@TheEvilPhoenix you forgot to get the dependencies
 Fixd it
16:28
Nah
dependencies not satisfied
16:55
i put a package deletion request in
once its deleted
i'll just copy in the already-compiled binaries
s/compiled/built/
s/binaries/debs/
@Amithkk ^
it may take some time to delete
in the mean time
i am going to do nothing until those packages are deleted
@Amithkk i also sent the PGP key to the shared email address
so feel free to check that and download the key into all your systems ;)
saw that :D
note it has the private key as well
so it must have the passcode entered to import
cool
17:01
once you've done that
erase that email
i dont want that key getting spread around :P
BBT
