Q: How did NASA calculate 22 million "rocket horsepower" for the SLS Booster?

uhohThis answer to Does NASA really report the power of rockets in horsepower? cites NASA news item Space Launch System Booster Aimed and Ready to Fire which says "What's impressive about this test is when ignited, the booster will be operating at about 3.6 million pounds of thrust, or 22 million...

@OrganicMarble Did you check to see if that produces 6 hp/lbf ? I've cited a specific number here, just because there's an equation there doesn't mean that it works, no matter how right Mark Adler invariably and always is :-)
@OrganicMarble Mark Adler's Wolfram Alpha calculate yields 48 million HP so it's close. But I don't think it's time to start blocking others from answering my question. Instead, others may with to start with his answer and expand on the other points raised in my question. If the right answer is 48 million hp, then why did Alex Priskos, manager of the SLS Boosters Office at Marshal say 22 million hp? This is not a duplicate.
I've adjusted the question to include and highlight the discrepancy between the numbers I've quoted and the equation in that answer. Nothing there answers my question about the 22 million hp.
@OrganicMarble I see a mention of a missing factor of 2 in an equation at a broken link to a Aerojet Rocketdyne page, but that doesn't apply to the equation the answer provides or the Wolfram Alpha calculator. You can see the divide by 2 clearly in the equation and the text: "...over two:" Do you think that this author would ever, every write an equation that they were not sure was right?

I believe that the question I suggested is a duplicate and that the answer given is correct. That's why I don't get all the pushback. I still think it's a duplicate but I'm retracting my close vote since you edited the question to ask about the specific number. I suggest you search the site for possible duplicates before posting questions in the future. A simple search for "horsepower" would have turned that up.

@OrganicMarble that's good advice and I'll do it. The system automatically generates the "Does this answer your question?" comment with a user name, and that question invites a response. A the same time a banner appears on my screen seen only to me also inviting me to decide if it does answer my question, or if not, to explain why it doesn't. If you're the first close voter and the automatic "does this answer your question" comment appears you can always delete it I suppose, but I don't think it can be turned off.
@OrganicMarble I'm pretty responsive to comments, so if there's a possible duplicate or something that should be taken into account it can be mentioned in a commend and I'll go read it quickly. But when the answer-blocking/question-closing process is initiated it affects the ability of any and all users to post an answer, so I see the situation as more urgent.

Did you account for the SRBs having a specific impulse of only about 240 s?

Please stop asking questions just to get points for asking questions.

@DavidHammen I'm in the middle of writing an answer to this, and when I'm done I'll offer this up to the Space gods for closing as duplicate. Please note that I've offered (and therefore lost) about 2000 reputation points so far this year in the form of bounties to reward good new answers and to generate more. I think it's clear that I'm not doing anything to "get points", and it's bad practice to assign motives to others in such a haphazard way. Please save your criticism for my posted answer, I'll ping you when it's ready. Thanks!
@DavidHammen total for last 4+ years: 270 Offered bounties for 33,300 reputation i.stack.imgur.com/s4zkI.png If I had my way rep would be displayed on a log10 scale, so for example I'd be 4.99. I think there's too much emphasis put on "points".
@DavidHammen please see the posted answer and the discrepancy that it raises. This question is not answered there! We have Isp's of 209, 240, and 269 that need to be reconciled.
@ChristopherJamesHuff I've posted an answer based on that, have a look?
@OrganicMarble I've posted an answer, there seems to be some discrepancy in the Isp values. I don't know if you have any channels to pass this on to Marshall or not. Maybe it's a vacuum vs sea-level thing?
