I found my missing day! And it was a problem with my timeline of the warren of the snares
It's wonderful how self-confirming the timeline is once I get it right
04:50
>< I've reached a part where the amount of time passing is unclear. For right now I'll use a variable for this unknown number of days, but if you have a better idea I'll take it.
Am I being annoying with The Saga of bobble's Answer-Writing?
@bobble No, actually I am in admiration of your diligence and enthusiasm. I learn so much (attitudinally as much as informationally) from you and others on here
Aw, thanks! I enjoy doing this far more than any English class assignment because I chose to work towards an answer which I find interesting.
The folks may be confused why I am balancing a computer and open book during TV-watching time, but who cares
05:12
@verbose also, I love reading your answers. They've fully of such wonderful, select informational delicacies, presented ever so sweetly.

report before I turn in for the night: just finished working through Chapter 25, and Holly's group has returned from Efrafa
about half-way through the book, making good time here

@bobble oh you're too kind

Q: Meaning and addressees of Hector's threats

Soyuz42The scene: Zeus and Apollo have just revived Hector who received a near-fatal blow from a boulder thrown by Ajax. Apollo and Hector then lead a refreshed Trojan onslaught on the Greeks, compelling them to retreat to their ships. On rush’d bold Hector, gloomy as the night; Forbids to plunder, ani...

Q: A timeslip murder mystery from the 70s/80s

sarcasticaquariusI'm trying to remember a YA novel I read back in the 80s/90s about a teen girl who goes to spend a summer with her grandmother or other older relative, something weird timeslippy happens, and she's able to slip between present day and the 60's I'm guessing [?], and becomes friends with a murdered...

@Bookworm vaguely reminds me of The Magic Half but that's much too new

Q: "where lay a gulf all the blacker for its glittering walls" - "all the..for" meaning?

KlotylTranslating one of Lovecraft's stories, I got stuck because of the following sentence: where lay a gulf all the blacker for its glittering walls. Particularly, it is the "all the" combined with "for" part. My possible interpretations: ..even more black than the (already) very bright/great glit...

@bobble This is why I love questions. Especially figuring out what real location a fiction story is set in. Often, once you figure it out, so many details slip into place to confirm it (my favourite example [pardon the self-promotion]).
And no, you're not being annoying! I'm getting a lot of vicarious enjoyment out of watching your progress :-)
I've reached "The Thunder Breaks" in my re-read, btw.

Nice one @verbose!
You'd be a very lucky person in China right now.
@Bookworm I'm expecting this to go HNQ in a few hours - let Gareth and verbose rep the spoils!
13:50
@Randal'Thor There should be an option to render it as 八千八百八十八 :-P

@Bookworm HNQ.
In case you're interested, here are the lengths of time I wasn't able to precisely determine, so far:

a = number of days after the rainstorm and before Kehaar agrees to fly, “a few days”
b = number of days Kehaar is scouting, “several days”
Holly's return is on Day 24 + a + b
15:59
@Tsundoku Maybe there is. SE does allow non-Latin characters in usernames.

D: I seem to have made a day appear out of thin air
They do that sometimes. Especially around dawn.
Could "some time before dawn" and "next morning" occur on the same day?
It would make the weather match up and my extra day disappear

@Randal'Thor haha
