I think it's fine for users to make their own translations, and sometimes it's better than using published translations, which are made for particular purposes, that aren't always convenient for answering a question.

There are sometimes different ways to translate something that focus on a different part of the meaning of a word... which can be important. There's a lot of nuance lost in translation. I'd always encourage people to translate with their own explanation of how they're interpreting it.
