Homer's two epic poems follow the story of the Trojan War through various perspective. Did Homer make up the stories, or was their some kind of historical/mythological predecessor that he retold (or exaggerated if the answer is historical)
Note: This does not in ANY WAY represent my own religious views.
It's possible that C.S. Lewis meant for the Dwarfs to represent the Jews. At the end of The Last Battle, the Dwarfs refused to be 'taken in' by Aslan. It's possible that C.S. Lewis meant for this to represent the Jews refusing to...
Hey, I just found out about this site. I don't have a particular question to ask (yet), but was wondering if questions like "Does X in Story Name symbolize Y?" are on topic here. Obviously, unsubstantiated opinions don't fit SE, but I'm thinking about a question that will ask for answers supported either by a close, analytical reading of the text, or an authorial opinion. Are questions like those on-topic here?
> If you are very active, you may be able to re-use your commitment as soon as the second day of public beta. If you aren't active on the site, you won't be able to re-use the commitment until the end of the public beta, or until six months after the beta began.
@kristan There's no real punishment, other than just being unable to use that commitment slot (of which you have 3) for any other site proposal for 6 months.
I made three posts: the one about Horton, the one about Sounder, and the one about Boxcar Children, and they all have positive score, but I haven't gotten any rep change or notification.
Unfortunately, it's not really that easy to find the specifics of what exactly is required for a commitment to be fulfilled.
Or maybe private beta is just the minimum duration after which a commitment is fulfilled. But you might still have the whole 6 months for fulfilling it.
> I commit to participate actively in (proposal) for at least three months, especially during the private beta, and to ask or answer at least ten questions.
Ah, it seems you have the whole 6 months to fulfill it, but if you do it during private beta the threshold is lower. After that you seem to need 10 posts.
If you weren't active enough during the private beta, you will need to post at least 10 questions or answers to fulfill your commitment. Once you do that, you can commit to another proposal.
The threshold is lower if you are very active during the private beta, though note that the earliest you...
I commited to some new proposal which I were interested in, but I seldom got questions on the new SE in beta, and I don't have the knowledge to answer the questions there too.
Is there no other way to fulfill a commitment other than asking and answer more questions? And how much questions and an...
We're getting a lot of hot network questions... humpty dumpty is the third one that I've seen. There was another one earlier today, but I don't remember which question.
I can read it too, but with an ad you really don't have too much time on your hands. Of course one could also argue that its artistic qualities are more important than its content and it doesn't necessarily have to be understood immediately, which is a reasonable viewpoint, too.
