I have another question about The Master of Ballantrae, but I don't know whether I should ask it. The question is: Did the Master of Ballantrae kill Chew. Chew dies in the second section of the book, with hints that he was poisoned; and towards the end of the book, somebody accuses the Master of Ballantrae of poisoning him.

The problem with asking this question is that I'm 90% sure that Stevenson intended it to be ambiguous, so chances are nobody would be able to find anything to add so as to give a reasonable answer.
