Q: Mid-1990s novel about young programmer who gets into trouble in Dallas

user10139Novel about a talented young computer programmer (maybe a child-protege..?) who makes a splash in the programming world and ends up moving to Dallas. I don’t really remember much of the plot, but I think he ends up getting in some trouble there because of Dallas’ “incomparable nightlife”. The “i...

Q: Where did D. H. Lawrence say that (in his works) he is not concerned with character or personality?

TsundokuTerry Eagleton's book How to Read Literature contains a chapter entitled "Character" which discusses various approaches toward "character" throughout the history of literature. One of the authors Eagleton briefly discusses is D. H. Lawrence: D. H. Lawrence declared he was not concerned with c...

@Bookworm This looks off-topic, but I'm not using the close hammer right away, in order not to chase away the OP at first contact.

Q: What does Mr World represent in the American Gods book?

Rand al'ThorThe American Gods Wikia site claims that Mr World is a personification of globalisation. That definitely seems to be true in the TV series (see the creepiest rant ever made about salsa), but in the books he seems a much more mysterious figure, IIRC never even seen "on stage" until near the very e...

Q: What are some sayings similar to “As Above So Below”?

PhysicsSolvesAllI am looking for philosophically deep sayings like "As Above So Below". Any help is appreciated.

@Bookworm That seems very off-topic.

@Bookworm Two very avid users lately refraining from close-voting for fear of unilateral action starts to really show. ;-)

@NapoleonWilson If it encourages other 500+ rep users to step up their game, I call that a win. And we're always here to finish the process of closing if it becomes necessary, even if we aren't the ones starting it any more.

If somebody's first question requires clarification, I have never been quick to cast a close vote but if something's blatantly off-topic, I'm less hesitant. (Last week, I deleted a question before the question feed picked it up. I believe it was spam.)

@Tsundoku Oh, and “Kis virág” at the star of the lyrics isn't random, Koncz Zsuzsa has an epinomous earlier song.

Q: Where to ask questions about plays and musicals?

FéileacánAs there is no Theatre SE, I wonder where I should post questions about plays and musicals? I couldn't decide between Movies & TV or Music or even Literature. More specifically, in this case it would have been a question about the musical "Phantom of the Opera". Which is also a movie and a book e...

@NorthLæraðr There might be another Phantom of the Opera question coming soon ;-)

Hmm, I spent the whole day composing an answer I likely won't be able to confidently post for about a month. :'(
