I have this quote written down in story I'm editing, but writer cannot remember where they got it
None but a fellow poet might understand the urge to buy a new notebook,
even there may be ten blank ones lying at home.
They can't even remember if it is a real quote or one that they made up b...
Though looking simple with short dialogues, the poem not well- understood by me is *"The terrorist he is watching"
Poem:-.....
The bomb in the bar will explode at thirteen twenty.
Now it’s just thirteen sixteen.
There’s still time for some to go in,
and some to come out.
The terrorist has already...
I'm currently reading a book of D. H. Lawrence "The Princess and other stories" and I encountered an adjective in "the Sun" I can't figure out entirely. I'm not an english speaker native.
In : The true Juliet lived in the dark flow of the sun within her deep body, like a river of dark rays circli...
@Mithical It should have been in history. It's about a historical fact, not even something related to the context of the book and not about literature. It never should have been posted here, upvoted, and let. But the community likes it, so it stays.
@cmw I'm not sure of that? We allow all sorts of questions about imaginative writers, and the question was about something said by an imaginative writer. Certainly it would have been a good fit for History, perhaps a better fit there than here, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it doesn't belong here.
@verbose Obligatory "In my opinion..." preface implied. I know the site is elastic, and other sorts of questions have been asked along those lines before, too, but I object to them as well! (But I'm out-numbered, thus my sigh of defeat.)
Would one of the mods be able to sprinkle Cheese onto the Upcoming Events sidebar of the main and meta sites? Thanks!
@Bookworm Ah, Lawrence. An author whose magic is utterly lost on me. I do like his poems, generally. His novels/short stories seem ludicrously bad to me ....
@verbose His short stories are indeed terrible, but so terrible that they are actually amusing (for me, anyway). One of the fun things about Cold Comfort Farm was how Mybug parodied Lawrence.
