A: Black keys - what scale are these, how to use them?

I found this recent question about what scale the black keys on the piano make, and was tempted to answer about the various equivalent ragas that occur with shruti bhedam. Then I saw that I was beaten to it by M. Vinay, who has compiled a very nice answer, linked above :)
