@FrançoisG.Dorais (or if some other experienced user is around) - now I noticed that is deprecated too. So I should deal with this tag similarly as with , right?

user9072Done I propose to deprecate abstract-algebra. It seems redundant with other tags, very broad, and the usage seems inconsistent. I feel it is comparable to the meanwhile removed topology and the deprecated geometry. (Explication on terminology: To deprecate a tag is not a technical measure. Wh...

The tag-excerpt says: "Deprecated; do NOT use this tag. Instead you could consider gr.group-theory, ac.commutative-algebra, ra.rings-and-algebras or various more specific tags."
The tag is currently used in 365 questions. (So perhaps it could be cleaned up in one year :-)

In connection with the today's post I wanted to find out what was tag-info of before merging.

domotorpI'm not sure if this is the right place to raise the issue, but I don't really like that combinatorial-geometry has been merged with discrete-geometry. In my opinion, this is the same (in a smaller scale) as merging combinatorics into discrete mathematics. There are many problems in discrete-geom...

I have tried to use the query from here:

A: Is it possible to find tag-info (tag-wiki and tag-excerpt) for the tag which was deleted?

ben is uǝq backwardsYes, you can use the Stack Exchange Data Explorer. I've created this query, which'll do what you want: select e.body, w.body from tags t left outer join posts e on t.excerptpostid = e.id left outer join posts w on t.wikipostid = w.id where t.tagname = ##tagname:string## If you...

But when I ran that query data.stackexchange.com/mathoverflow/query/234879/… or this query (which is a slight modification) data.stackexchange.com/mathoverflow/query/706718/… I found nothing.
So perhaps the tag-info was empty before merging and synonymizing?
BTW math.SE has a separate combinatorial-geometry and discrete-geometry tags.

@MartinSleziak I waited a bit to see whether I get some feedback about suitable tags for that question. Since nobody reacted here, I have retagged it. Maybe the tags are still not optimal, but IMO the new tags are definitely better than algebraic geometry.
