Q: Preview failing to parse double backslash in large matrices?

David E SpeyerA couple of times now, I've been entering a large matrix here or on math.SE and, in the preview window, all the rows appear on a single line. Once the question posts, it displays correctly. I most recently ran into this bug on this question. I'm afraid this is somewhat of a Heisenbug: I just tri...

I see that there was some exchange in the comments about this. I suppose that what was intended was .
Is there a reason the meta tag marking-preview doesn't fit and justifies creation of preview? cf chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/53575574#53575574YCor 3 hours ago
@YCor The tag suggestion box didn't offer marking-preview as a suggestion to me. I changed it to marking-preview now but, in fact, it appears to be the only question with that tag. — David E Speyer 2 hours ago
In chat, markdown-preview is suggested but (1) there don't appear to be any questions with that tag either and (2) the part of the question inside TeX is supposed to be ignored by the markdown parser, so that this shouldn't be a question about markdown (although I wouldn't be surprised if the cause is a bug with the markdown parser.) Anyway, I'll leave the tags alone for now, but I think preview actually was the best name. — David E Speyer 2 hours ago
I find [marking-preview] completely uninformative. [preview] or [markdown-preview] would be better. — David Roberts 1 hour ago
I have edited it to (markdown-preview) - the same name is used on many other metas. (For example, Meta Stack Exchange, Mathematics Meta). Once this is resolved and some name for this tag is agreed, I suppose that the comments here which are related to the creation of the new tag could be deleted. (We can discuss further in chat.) — Martin Sleziak 13 secs ago
I have also proposed some tag-info for the new tag.

Maybe I will just add that I consider both or better names than - the latter was created most likely just due the typo in one of the comments linked above.
In other words, I agree with David Roberts' comment.

Oops, "marking-preview" was just a copying error on my behalf, and afterwards I missed the point of the discussion thinking that "marking-preview" already existed. Sorry for the resulting mess.

I am not sure whether the moderators will agree, but I left a flag saying that the comments related to the new tag (rather than to the original question) can now be deleted.
After all, they are archived here in chat. Moreover, since the first comment in the chain was already deleted, the ones responding to it now make less sense.
I have also deleted mine - I suppose that people who participated in the discussion about the tag have already seen it.
We will see whether it is going to be edited again, but at the moment the tag for preview version of the post is called .
