As mentioned before, I am not really sure what is most suitable as the top-level tag for semigroups. I have replaced the deprecated tag by [gr.group-theory] in this recent question: Some questions about homogroups

Recently the tag wiki for was updated to mention . The edit summary was: added universal-algebra although it's not top-level: many questions about algebraic structures should fall here; mathoverflow.net/posts/233412/revisions mathoverflow.net/review/suggested-edits/93715
The tag-excerpt now reads:
