@AmirSagiv Re: Why not both? I will not pretend to know much about harmonic analysis, but to me this question seems unrelated to this area. (Of course I might be wrong.) In connection with the above discussion: There are 18 questions which are tagged both harmonic-functions and harmonic-analysis.
To me this seems a bit suspicious - my impression was that these things appear together only seldom.
But I should probably leave this to somebody who knows more about harmonic analysis.
Basically all that I know about it is that it is related to Fourier analysis on "nice" groups and it is related to Pontryagin duality.
I vaguely recall that it is usually done on locally compact Hausdorff groups; maybe also some other assumptions are needed.
