What version of Windows do you have? I ask because if you have W10 or 11 it has a good anti-virus built in and you don't need to buy anything.

OK. If you do want to buy an AV then AVG is pretty good. I used it for several years and was happy with it.

The best way to speed up an old PC is to replace the old hard disk with a new SSD and do a new clean installation of Windows.

The only good way to fix all that stuff is to wipe the disk (or get a new disk) and do a new clean install of Windows.

In that case the upgrade to Windows 11 is free as MS offer free upgrades from Windows 8 to Windows 11.

You can ask AVG to fix them if you want. It won't do any harm. But it also won't speed up your PC much. Is the PC a laptop or a desktop PC?

The number one best way to speed up the laptop would be to get a repair shop to replace the old disk with an SSD then install a new copy of Windows 11. It will make a huge difference.

That shouldn't cost too much.

It's not that hard to do, so you could do it yourself, but it can be a bit scary if you've never done it before.
