Good Morning @Malavika and @yuvrajsingh 😊

2 hours later…
05:54
@JohnRennie Good Morning sir :-)
Morning :-)
@JohnRennie sir you remember kittens from yesterday? :-)
@JohnRennie no sir...just saying 😊
@JohnRennie they're covered with a blanket sir
Do kittens like sleeping under a blanket? I would have guessed not, but obviously they do.
06:02
@JohnRennie sir I went to their house in the morning. They told me the kittens were sleeping with mummy. I silently went to see them. They were fully covered 😊
Cute :-)
@JohnRennie Sir I wanted to photograph and show you but due to some issues they didn't allow me to photograph those kittens. They're a bit worried.
About the kittens' health?
@JohnRennie yeah sir...they think if some random person sees them the kittens may have health issues. So only a very few people are allowed to enter the kitten room...Most of the time they're left alone.
Probably wise. The kittens will do best when it's just their mother lookingafter them.
06:10
@JohnRennie yeah sir...very true...I wanted to catch and touch them. Well...let alone that. I was not even allowed to go near them :(
@JohnRennie sir aren't you feeling excited about the little kittens?
I like kittens, but I wouldn't say I felt excited. There are a lot of kittens in the world and any time I need a kitten fix there are a million kitten videos on YouTube.
We should probably be discussing this in the other room. Give me a moment and I'll move the messages.
@JohnRennie sure sir...please move them...I wasn't aware :(

@user8718165 hi
@JohnRennie hello sir...GREAT :)
@yuvrajsingh bro could you please rename this room to Chit-chat and stuff
I mean we aren't talking about physics here at all XDXD
Sure @user8718165.
room topic changed to Chit-chat and stuff: Room for student and researcher, and general discussion. [homework-and-exercises,] [kinematics] [newtonian-mechanics] [quantum-mechanics]
06:22
@yuvrajsingh Thank you very much Yuv :) Well...what are you doing?
Thinking about a creep.
@yuvrajsingh ...?
Typo. A boy.
@yuvrajsingh ...?
Long story. Let me bring rennie sir if he is free. @JohnRennie
room topic changed to Chit-chat and stuff for physics enthusiasts : Room for student and researcher, and general discussion. [homework-and-exercises,] [kinematics] [newtonian-mechanics] [quantum-mechanics]
@AbhasKumarSinha hiiiiii.
06:36
@yuvrajsingh hello :)
How is the preparation going on.
@yuvrajsingh well, I think
Are from bangalore.
@yuvrajsingh no
Then. Chandigarh.
07:09
@JohnRennie hello sir
@user8718165 hi
@JohnRennie sir I want to ask you a qn about doping
@user8718165 yes?
Sorry sir can you go in problem solving strategies and we can come here. @JohnRennie
@yuvrajsingh okay :)
07:14
As we all agree this room is not for physics related problem.
@yuvrajsingh call all buddies here ;)
You can talk there. Non one will intervene.
@yuvrajsingh you got angry I suppose...
Noo chill, I have some work, enjoy see you later.

5 hours later…
12:18
@JohnRennie hello sir...I want to show you something..
@user8718165 hi
@JohnRennie sir...do you have time to talk with me?
@user8718165 yes, I'm here for about another half hour.
@JohnRennie yeah
@JohnRennie Sir, you know Rabindranath Tagore?
No. Give me a moment and I'll Google.
Rabindranath Tagore ( (listen); born Robindronath Thakur, 7 May 1861 – 7 August 1941), also known by his pen name Bhanu Singha Thakur (Bhonita), and also known by his sobriquets Gurudev, Kabiguru, and Biswakabi, was a polymath, poet, musician, and artist from the Indian subcontinent. He reshaped Bengali literature and music, as well as Indian art with Contextual Modernism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Author of the "profoundly sensitive, fresh and beautiful verse" of Gitanjali, he became in 1913 the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in Literature. Tagore's poetic songs were...
12:21
@JohnRennie I've been searching for one of his songs for months...and I today found it...
I'd have thought all his work would be on the Internet somewhere ...
@JohnRennie I want to show it to you...though you may not get the bengali lyrics but you'll love the music...can I show you sir?
Yes. A YouTube video?
@JohnRennie you please listen to it right now :)
Ok :-)
12:24
@JohnRennie sir did you get it ?
@user8718165 listening now ...
@JohnRennie its just soo good sir :)
I think the music you like is the music you heard in your teenage years. For me that was progressive rock. Bands like Hawkwind and Pink Floyd.
I suspect that once you get into your 20s your tastes in music become fairly fixed.
@JohnRennie okay sir...Did you listen to it?
I've never heard any Indian music so I don't understand it, and that makes it hard for me to really get into it.
@user8718165 I have it playing now. It's about 2/3 of the way through.
This is my sort of music. I confidently predict you will be baffled why anyone would listen to it :-)
12:32
@JohnRennie I'll just translate the name for you sir Anondo- Happiness Dhara-stream so, Anondodhara means something like the river(stream) of happiness and bohichhe means flowing and finally bhubane means this world...so the phrase means "The stream of happiness is flowing in the world"
@JohnRennie sorry I was busy typing sir...I'll see it now :)
@JohnRennie no sir...that's a great sort of music :) Actually that kind of music is 1st ime for me :)
@JohnRennie hello sir...are you there?
@JohnRennie so tell me sir...honest opinions on the music :)
It was pleasant enough, but not really my type of music.
I can't say how good it is because I don't understand Indian music.
@JohnRennie Still Thank you very much sir...Atleast you listened it full. Others would simply stop after losing interest.
I'm always happy to listen to music I haven't heard before. I listen to a radio station that plays lots of new music. Most of it I don't like but some I do like and it's always nice finding new things you like :-)
12:41
@JohnRennie sir..If you knew bengali and just a bit of indian music...I bet you'd have loved it 😊
@JohnRennie yeah sir...absolutely true :)
@JohnRennie Sir once again thank you for clearing up my doubts...Great :)
:-)
I need to go now.
@JohnRennie Goodbye sir😊😊

@yuvrajsingh, Hi bro
If possible pls. answer the following question:

Q: What will happen to a ball kept on a frictionless inclined plane?

IntellexI was wondering about this question since I learnt about rolling motion in the chapter rotational mechanics. I was unable to come to a solid conclusion due to the reasons mentioned below. The following diagram shows a ball on a frictionless inclined plane and the forces acting on it: The forc...

13:58
@Intellex Bruh. I didn't down-vote it...Just saying :) Well you've got some of the great quality answers out there :)
@user8718165 I didn't say it was you who downvoted. I received those answers after posting the above message.
Are you preparing for JEE?
@Intellex just saying :) People do that for no reason sometimes without explaining. That's very bad. Well it happened twice with me as well.
I took those votes too seriously and ruined my day :(
14:20
@user8718165 I'm planning to flag my own posts where I received downvotes. Mods can easily figure them out. For me this happens almost every time. Some unwanted insect is on this network to press the downvote button.

Are you preparing for JEE?
@Intellex hi.
@yuvrajsingh, If you think of a different solution, then you're welcome. Some speak abt. spin angular momentum in classical mechanics.
Sorry I was busy.
@Intellex nope I don't think so...votes are totally "private".
@yuvrajsingh No problem
14:24
@Intellex well yes...where are you studying now?
OK, so can post what actually you are finding.
@yuvrajsingh hii yuv
@user8718165 That's true. IP addresses are not private however. Mods can see downvotes from specific IP, I think.
@user8718165 Milky way (I think)

@yuvrajsingh, The above one sir
@Intellex nope...that way votes could be easily found out...
First of all Please bro do not call me sir, I am just 18.
14:26
@Intellex please tell :-) Are you in an IIT or NIT or BITS?
@yuvrajsingh Ok. That came out of practice, when chatting with Rennie sir.
@user8718165 IIT
@Intellex IIT-B?
preferably yes
@user8718165 IITB-CSE
So I totally agree with the fact that the ball mustn't rotate. @Intellex
@Intellex Man hats-off...You should've done God level hard work. IITB-CSE isn't a joke I think. You definitely got within AIR-60
14:29
But in present I'm preparing for JEE. Neglecting relativistic effects
@yuvrajsingh Why. Consider the torque of gravity when the axis passes through the contact point.
@Intellex gravity will act on the COM point
there won't be any net torque.
Actually , it does not do the normal "rolling without slipping" motion but instead slips completely, sliding down without any rotation whatsoever.

This is why, as you say, the net torque about the center will be zero and angular acceleration will be zero.
@user8718165 No net torque about the axis thru COM, but net torque is there thru the contact point.
@Intellex okay may be I lost my mind. Discuss with Yuv. I'm sleep deprived ;)
@user8718165, Before you leave have the following in your mind

But in present I'm preparing for JEE. Neglecting relativistic effects
14:33
Is it comfortable ? @Intellex
Actually there is a term inertia and rotational inertia.
@yuvrajsingh If time permits, could you please post it as an answer. I'm sorry to disturb you a lot bro.
@yuvrajsingh I understand that. Rotational inertia is just MOI right?
Yes like inertia, is property of matter, which in hold object to maintain its state.
Moment of inertia., means it inertia offered by rotating body.
If you want I will write an answer. Actually my semester exam is going on. But I am happy to help you. @Intellex
Anything for friends, I will be happy, to have you all in my college. @user8718165 @malavika @Intellex
@yuvrajsingh No thanks. Please carry on with your semester preparation. I don't want to interrupt :)
All the best for your Exams. @yuvrajsingh. Bye.
Hey no issue I am writing it. Because it is mess time. @Intellex
