Sebastiano: I think that comparison site supports a general proposition that
KaTeX
parses $\LaTeX$ input more rapidly than MathJax
does. However KaTex
has been feature poor relative to MathJax
during its earliest phases, so speed is not the only consideration. Moreover the comparison site does not seem to me to be representative of how MathJax
works at Math.SE; its timings are heavily weighted by "font downloads" of more than one second, something I'm not experiencing here. In any case the quality of rendering here matches or exceeds that which I get using StackEdit (KaTeX
