Here's a message that can be pinged.

@geocalc33 Grothendick universe sounds facinating - but I'm really only just testing the "reply to this msg"-feature, sorry! ;-)

@MBaas Reply to mine, then.
@MBaas So look, I can indicate two separate and unrelated replies to the same message.

@Adám here you go. But what if I replied tomorrow? That's what I wanted to simulate with the prior msg. Sure, there's an option to go back from my reply to the earlier post - but you loose the "thread-view" of that particular discussion...

@MBaas Because discussions as such don't exist. Only messages (which each can be associated with at most one message).
@MBaas Hover over a message to see what it associates to and what associates to it. (Of course, you won't see off-screen highlights.) In my experience, this isn't an issue.

@MartinSleziak Ok, so this could be a reply to Martin. It's not, I'm sorry - just trying to make a point ;)

@MBaas I don't get your point.

@Adám Well, now the overall discussion has comments on various topics interspersed in a looong list. If you want to follow a certain discussion that two ppl had, you can follow the highlight (if you're lucky enough to have related msgs on the screen) - but you still have a lot of (possibly unrelated stuff) between it.
Unless there is an option to get a condensed view of that sub-thread - I'm not convinced that this is really better...

@MBaas Yes, exactly like a coffee room. I like it. And if it becomes unbearable, people can easily create separate rooms.

Maybe it's a matter of taste then. I think I prefer Slack's option of "branching a thread" ;)
