I'm still not clear on why you think a mod could help though. Nothing of what you're describing is a mod's job. Even if one of the mods were an expert in all sciences, that wouldn't make any difference to how questions about math would be received on the site.
@anongoodnurse Rep plus you have a very solid review history here. I really hope we all can make/keep Bio.SE a place where people like you feel like contributing is worth their time. I would not expect you to go up for mod even though you'd deserve it, but I hope you can settle in with WYSIWYG as one of our favorite community moderators :)
@DeNovo De Novo. It depends. The problem is that I can share how much time I devote to it,but imo it's not enough. Assuming that with 2 decent mods in place it may become enough, I can tell you it's about, say, less than 15 minutes per day. Maybe even less than that. In the weekends things are quiet for example.
This site is about biology. So if you need to know physics to answer a question, then the question is off topic. Stats are different and we do have some users with strong statistics backgrounds.
@AliceD @WYSIWYG I've been chewing on the idea myself, but am concerned about the time commitment. I'm semi-retired, but still have periods of time where I'm quite busy. Could you or any of the other mods share how much time you spend per week?
@BryanKrause You can still argue as a mod. yes, you should take extra care to be polite and yes, you should not abuse the comments to have long back and forth exchanges (but you can always move to chat) but you can certainly still argue!
Welcome all! This room is intended as a place to converse with candidates, discuss moderator traits, etc. For general discussion related to biology, go here:chat.stackexchange.com/rooms/1997/the-biosphere
If you have questions about the election process itself, please ask your question on the Biology Meta Site. Remember, folks stepping up to lead this community are committing a significant amount of their time, please keep all discourse civil and constructive.
