Q: It looks like it's finally time

JamalWell, somehow I didn't see this coming for a while, but it looks like it's the best time to move on after all these years. I've been here since 2013, which I believe was two years after CR was founded. Not long after that, I noticed that a previous mod was gone, and then I eventually took his pl...

Q: Mat's back, blame the monkey

Mathieu GuindonWhen I put down my mug 18 months ago, I promised I'd stick around, and I did. I've been keeping a distant eye on CR and meta, while remaining in our Rubberducking dev chat, and monitoring vba posts on both Code Review and Stack Overflow. Seeing rolfl's resignation and the bleeding of several SE ...

@klangfarb Nononononono, Code Review won't take this. "but I am not getting the expected result" disallows posting it there. — Mast 23 secs ago

Knowing things is one thing. Being able to put it down into words so that others will find it easily graspable is a whole other chapter.

Some of you may have noticed that I let my 6-year streak of daily appearances on Code Review lapse earlier this month, and my participation has been minimal since then. I was thinking of writing a goodbye message on Meta CR, but decided that it wouldn't be worth the effort.

Nothing mods can do. Only SE can change the settings.

Chat profiles have a parent account. Yours is your Stack Overflow account. You should notice a [change] button which you can use to change to another SE site. My moderator one is Code Review so if I changed to another SE site I think I can lose my moderator privileges in chat (and profile). Just answering how "How is the username aliased?" could actually happen. I just use Firefox containers

Q: Request to add an extra moderator given the 2021 election results

Der KommissarGiven we just had the election, after seeing how close the final results were (the final elimination was a margin of 0.04%), I would like to formally request that Mast be instated as a moderator. Additionally, I want to note: there is precedent for adding more moderators than open spots, and I be...

Honestly with it that close I personally feel we should have had 3 mods inaugurated, even if there were only 2 spots

Why DRY is not perfect, how longer code can be simpler code and how tests allow refactoring without understanding the code.

> I bet you say that sometimes, don’t you? Once in a while, you say to somebody, “Oh, I'd be more than happy to do that.” How can you be more then happy? To me this sounds like a dangerous mental condition. “We had to put Dave in the mental home. He was... more than happy” - George Carlin
