@StrongBad Reviewer 2 has much to answer for, and I give you my word that, if elected, my administration will launch a full scale investigation into their perfidious claims of "Flawed methodology", "Overreaching conclusions" and "Not appropriate for this journal."

@Fomite Whoever wins the election has plenty more coming their way. Accepting insults graciously is part of the job ...

@Fomite now I want to ask a question on the main site about the reviewer 2 meme. I am not sure there is a good question about it, but how do we not even have a reviewer 2 tag.

@StrongBad Indeed. But it's one step closer to actually having context.

As an outsider, I am still trying to figure out why @SSimon has a problem with @Wrzlprmft... But by this discussion even @Wrzlprmft doesn't know what is the problem. Well, I thought that the problem was with @Wrzlprmft due to some comments, now I'm seeing that the problem is with @Fomite. I'm lost. @SSimon would you summarize the problem, please? :)

@SSimon, I don't know what you mean about Wrzlprmft insulting other members and dishonesty. Where are the citation links to show any of this? People here have been asking you for a week and you haven't provided a single thing. Are you saying he only insulted you, or other members?

@SSimon If you really want to avoid me being elected, do not just state that you have a good case to make, but actually make your case. Just vaguely hinting at this chatroom where even I do not know what I could have possibly said wrong rather harms your cause than helping it. Also please consider for a moment that you misunderstood something I said: How can I possibly clarify it, if you’re not telling me what you are talking about?

But “for research purposes” makes for a good academia equivalent of “for a friend”.
Mar 20, 2018 16:21
@Discretelizard but only 1 candidate has promised to make reviewer 2 pay.

I understand mine a little better - but I had to go digging. When @SSimon first posted, I didn't even recognize the username, despite him being convinced that I would be the head of an elaborate moderator vendetta. I did some digging and found what I *believe* he's taking issue with.

But I'm also going to decline to explain on @SSimon's behalf, because: 1) I'm not the one making the accusations about potential moderator/moderator-candidate impropriety, 2) I'm nigh positive my explanation will differ sufficiently from his that he won't find it satisfactory and/or it will launch a new round

After such a load of accusations, we candidates and all the other users that participate in this election are expecting to read your reasoning and examples supporting your claims, so that the candidates can defend themselves and we can all make a more informed voting decision. I think that if you want your claims to be taken seriously, you should take the time to write down an elaborate response.

@D.Hutchinson In what ways do you think Fomite and Massimo's answers and comments were "in-your-face" and "forceful"? I fail to see what they have done that were rude, at least from my perspective.
Mar 15, 2018 17:59
@Fomite there are also, now deleted, comments on that post without which it is difficult to understand the full story.
Mar 15, 2018 17:54
For reference, and because insinuations and veiled references are unproductive, I suspect the post SSimon is referencing is this one: academia.stackexchange.com/questions/99437/…

In short: Moderators are elected to solve problems of Academia SE, not of academia (mind the capitalisation).
Mar 14, 2018 22:41
> What activities on the site suggest that you would be a good moderator? – I’ve already been called a nazi twice.
Mar 14, 2018 09:37
@ff524: I merely asked Ssimon to back up his objections with links. He said they were on the (now-closed) nomination page. I don't see any. I give up.
Mar 14, 2018 09:34
@Ssimon, no they're not, I had already checked the nomination feed three times plus this chatroom. If you had posted any links on nomination they're not there. That's why I asked you. Given you object to 3 of the 4 candidates, the onus is on you to explain why. I can't see any reasons whatsoever. I think most people here are scratching their heads at what you wrote. Links, please.
Mar 13, 2018 18:22
Apart from making it really hard for me to choose who to vote for, I am excited about the users who nominated themselves. Regardless of the outcome, thank you all for taking the time to answer the questions and volunteer yourself for more responsibility.
Mar 13, 2018 18:16
@SSimon I agree with the others that I don't see his dishonesty. Can you explain your reasoning the the posts in question.
Mar 13, 2018 16:39
@PeterAbolins bcs he stated something in his nomination, but in his chat, he clearly shows dishonesty!!!! He is capable to clearly lies in order tto get elected.!!! it is for life lecetio peole should get serious abou it
Mar 6, 2018 02:38
Hoping to see a bunch of people nominate themselves.
