A: Zipline adventure operators in Jodhpur

Richard McCallumI noticed this forum from my google alerts. I am a director of Flying Fox and I'd like to help clarify the situation in Jodhpur. We've just re-started the single zipline option at Rs 200, and while the actual zip takes 20 seconds we say 30 minutes are required for the harnessing, paperwork, paym...

btw when I saw the kilt question yesterday, I checked the site that the OP has linked (some badass kilts!), and although they had an extensive FAQ, I was thinking all the time one thing: are you supposed to wear underwear or not?

Q: Is it possible for an old question to get on the hot questions list?

RoflcoptrWe on travel SE are in beta and we're always watching the hot questions list to see if one of our questions has made it into the hot questions list. Now we observed that it seems that only new questions are listed there. So is it possible at all for old questions if they earn enough attention (v...

Q: Getting laid in Amsterdam: Best practice

RoflcoptrA friend of mine left his girlfriend after a long time (~ 5 years). To cheer him up a little bit, we decided to go to Amsterdam next January. Amsterdam has some very liberal prostitution and drug consuming laws. So we're planning that he is getting laid there every day. But we're not really us...

The first session last month was a big success, and so it was decided this will take place every month in a weekend for half a day to clean up. Just a few months ago we were at 220+ unanswered questions, and growing, and now we're below 180. So I'd say it works pretty well

Ahh... The coast is great, but there are way too many tourist-y areas there. There are a few camping places which are nice, and a lot of young people are going there. But the main resorts.. I'd avoid them, you won't find them any different from similar places in Greece or Spain. Definitely go for the northern coast -- much less populated, and better places

Q: Why shouldn't we use the word 'here' in a textlink

Paul OlyslagerOver the years of surfing on the web I have found numerous examples of people telling to not use the word "here" in a textlink. Personally I like the idea of using the word, because it is so straightforward for your visitors to know where to click. The only reason that I can truly think of is fo...

google maps is almost impossible to use for finding the big shopping centres in bulgaria
Aug 2, 2011 15:13
@hippietrail Hey, I found out why people collect receipts from shopping in Taiwan. Apparently, all receipts are printed on government-approved paper and there's a monthly lottery. It's a way here to encourage people to ask for receipts when buying goods -> ensures that sales are taxed and reported to the government. In fact, people give beggars shopping receipts instead of money here, there are donation boxes for charities where people 'donate' receipts. Pretty ingenious, I must say!

The "Interesting Questions" usually require people who have "been there". but tend to be answered quickly by people who commonly have less travel experience than the OP or apply the "It's like this in Thailand, so it should be like that in Uganda."
Jul 1, 2011 16:05
The problem with travel Q&A sites is that a lot of tourists (= people on vacation) name their activity "travel". While their destination is new to them, the problems they tend to run into are quite common, hence the questions are they tend to ask are quite repetitive. This in response turns away the more experience travellers.
